Fortune Cookie Soap 12 Days of Christmas Box Review
This box came with a sheet detailing the scents featured in the box.
December 14th: It Must Be Italian OCD Hand Sanitizer, 1 oz. - Estimated Value $1.99 (based on the same size in a different scent found here)
Based on the way these goodies were packed I think we are starting small and slowly building up to the biggest and best. It Must Be Italian is a blend of chilled citron, crimson plums, and apples warmed by cashmere musk. I love having unique hand sanitizer on my person to use and share as the need arises, and this is so much more fun than the kind you can easily find at places like Bath and Body Works.
December 15th: Triple Dog Dare You Lip Balm - Estimated Value $3.49 (based on a different lip balm found here)
Another small present! Triple Dog Dare you is flavored with fizzy root beer float, and I have no qualms about slathering this all over my lips. This is hydrating and helps to protect against the winter chill, too.
December 16th: Cry Baby Milk Shake, 8 oz. - Estimated Value $23.98 (based on a 4 oz milk shake in a different scent found here)
Mmmmm, this smells like warm chestnuts, brown maple sugar, and buttercream. It really smells like cake, and I love adding this to my hot bath for both the delicious scent and the hydration this adds to the water.
December 17th: Fortune Cookie Soap Soap Dish
This is an FCS-branded (by the little wood burner in the corner) bamboo soap dish which is great considering I don’t actually own a soap dish. Hmm- does this mean we are going to get a bar of soap?
December 18th: Oh, Fuuudge Bar Soap - Estimated Value $7.99 (based on the bar soaps available here)
It did mean we were getting a bar of soap! And this soap fits the soap dish perfectly while smelling deliciously of frosted cranberries, juniper, and cedar wood. I love juniper and cedar wood in bath products, and this soap is a great unisex fragrance with just a touch of fruity sweetness from the cranberries.
December 19th: Bumpuses Toilet Spray, 2.1 oz. - Estimated Value $9.99 (based on the toilet sprays available here)
I love a good toilet spray to hide the evidence of what happened behind closed doors, and this one smells like lavender, vanilla, and peppermint. All of those scents are favorites for me so I was not surprised to find I enjoyed this scent. It does the job it was designed to do, and I am thinking of how good this scent would be in a body lotion, too.
December 20th: What I Want For Christmas Exfoliating Hand Soap, 4 oz. - Estimated Value $8.99 (based on other exfoliating hand soaps available here)
Hmmm, this package is the same size as the December 21st gift, but we couldn't get two of the same things, right? In this case, we got a generous 4 oz hand soap scented with figs, nutmeg, and allspice. This is a great seasonal and unisex fragrance, and I am torn between displaying this in a guest bathroom or hoarding it and only using it on myself.
December 21st: What I Want For Christmas Hand & Body Lotion, 4 oz. - Estimated Value $7.96 (based on the 1 oz hand soap found here)
Ahah! We didn’t get the same item, but we did get a matching lotion to go with our soap. It has the same scent of figs, nutmeg, and allspice, and this can be displayed next to the soap as a hand soap or used separately as an all-over body lotion. This provided light hydration that absorbed quickly and didn’t leave me greasy.
December 22nd: Pink Nightmare Body Frosting, 2.5 oz. - Estimated Value $12.99 (based on the body frostings available here)
I absolutely love the texture of FCS’s body frosting- think of it as a whipped butter that melts on contact with your skin! Pink Nightmare is a fruity blend of spiced oranges and boysenberries balanced with creamy sandalwood. I love the scent and the hydration this provides to my dry skin, but I have only used this a few times and my 2.5 oz jar is already more than half empty.
December 23rd: Santa Clause Probably Left It Solid Sugar Scrub - Estimated Value $11.75 (based on the sugar scrubs found here)
The packaging on this solid sugar scrub confused me- it would be much better suited for a small jar like the body frosting rather than this flimsy plastic that is hard to open and close securely while in the shower. This scent is a combination of cranberry apple pie and sugar crystals, and it is a sweet fruity scent I have no problem exfoliating with.
December 24th: The Holy Grail of Christmas Gifts Perfume Oil
Woah- this is one big perfume oil! Considering we usually get .05 oz or 0.10 oz perfume oils in the monthly subscription, this baby (I am estimating it at about 1.7 oz, as the size isn't listed) feels extra luxurious. This has a scent blend of sparkling champagne, velvet musk, Almond Creme, lavender, and pine. It isn't my favorite scent in the world (I wish the lavender and pine was more pronounced), but this would be an amazing gift if I decided to pass it along!
December 25th: Fortune Cookie Soap Mug
Our 12th and final gift is this neat FCS branded mug. This is a big and hefty fellow that would be perfect for holding a steaming cup of soup or chili, or it can be the most epic coffee mug ever!
Here are all of my goodies unwrapped and ready to be used!
The Verdict: I didn’t realize the theme of this box was A Christmas Story until someone pointed it out, but that didn’t stop me from loving the quality products and scent blends that I received! It was fun having a new little gift to unwrap every day as we got closer to Christmas (though I did have to bulk open a few of them, don't tell the Elf on the Shelf!). These scents were Advent Calendar exclusives that will only be available through Create-Your-Own events outside of this box, and that adds a really fun twist to an already great box. Value-wise, Fortune Cookie Soap promised a value of at least $100, and I think they safely met that. I couldn't estimate a value for the perfume oil, the soap dish, or the mug, but the estimated value of everything else adds up to $89.13. I feel confident saying the remaining items definitely push that total value above $100.
To Wrap Up:
Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No. this was a limited edition box available through a pre-order sale only.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $50 + free shipping, which means that each of the 12 items in the box has an average cost of $4.17.
