Yogi Surprise Jewelry  November 2018 Review

Yogi Surprise Jewelry November 2018 Review - information sheet Front

This month’s theme is Anjali! Here is Yogapedias explanation of what Anjali means:

Anjali mudra symbolizes both physical and spiritual harmony and balance united at the heart center. It is believed to help calm and still the mind, reduce anxiety and stress, and open up your Anahata (heart) chakra.

Yogi Surprise Jewelry November 2018 Review - Anjali Mala Necklace Bag TopYogi Surprise Jewelry November 2018 Review - Anjali Mala Necklace Top

Anjali Mala Necklace

A mala is a strand of 108 beads plus a “guru” bead designed to help you with meditation or prayer. From my research, in Hinduism the number 1 stands for God, the universe, or your highest truth (whatever you believe!), the number 0 stands for emptiness and humility in the spiritual practice, and the number 8 stands for infinity and timelessness, which is why the malas are strung with 108 beads.

This Mala is made with black lava beads and amethyst. I love the way the amethyst looks with the black beads and I also love that I can use an essential oil with this necklace for extra awesomeness. According to Yogi Surprise, the combination of amethyst and black lava helps to provide grounding and stabilizing energy to create an attitude of inner peace.

I have never meditated with a mala before, so I decided to watch this tutorial from Yoga SaraBeth before diving in. I chose to use the mantra “I am capable,” and while meditating this way didn’t really come naturally to me, it is something I am going to try and keep doing.

Yogi Surprise Jewelry November 2018 Review - Anjali Mala Necklace Wear Front

I really liked the suggestion by Yoga Sarabeth to only wear the mala on the days you meditated with it as a reminder of your mantra and your intentions for the day. I also think this particular Mala is super stylish!

Anjali Gratitude Bracelet

Honestly, I am in LOVE with this bracelet. I love the smooth matte finish of the rose gold, the simplicity in the word “gratitude,” and the fact that this fits my wrist perfectly. I normally don’t wear bracelets, but this is one I am going to try and wear often- I think it is so stylish and such a perfect reminder of being grateful during this holiday season.

Brownie Ona Cookies, 2 oz – Buy a case of 12 for $18

The Yogi Surprise Jewelry Surprise Box always contains a snack, and I am really digging the choice this month. These brownie cookies really have the texture of a dense brownie, with the added perk of walnuts inside! These have a super simple ingredient list of almond flour, honey, cocoa powder, walnuts, coconut oil, cocoa nibs, pink Himalayan salt, vanilla bean, and cinnamon! I honestly think I have all of those ingredients in my pantry except for the cocoa nibs, so this is a treat you can feel good about- no ingredients that you cannot pronounce. These are made in a gluten-free facility and are also dairy free. If you have a nut allergy, these cookies won't work, but if you have a dairy or wheat allergy these would be a great sweet alternative. My only complaint is that I couldn’t really taste the cinnamon, and I think a stronger cinnamon flavor really would have made the flavor pop.

The Verdict: I really enjoyed being exposed to a new form of meditation with this box, which is something I am trying to incorporate more into my everyday life. Yogi Surprise listed the total value of the box as $134. I am not a beading expert, so I cannot attest to the quality, authenticity, or value of the beads included. What I can say is that the pieces felt like they were of good quality (the Mala especially had a solid weight to it), and for the $24.95 I am extremely happy with what I received – especially considering all jewelry is handcrafted with fair trade materials. I also felt that both jewelry pieces fit my style really well this month, which was an added bonus.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the December box.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Thanks for reminding me about the brownie LOL This is probably my favorite sub that I get. I am really hoping for a month of all bracelets though. You will amass quite the collection of malas in no time. All of the pieces are very high quality!
