Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Spider Roast and Berry & Mascarpone Pies FrontGeek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Spider Roast and Berry & Mascarpone Pies Top

Recipes: Spider Roast and Berry & Mascarpone Pies

Well, that spider roast recipe looks absolutely creepy, even if the ingredients list sounds like a nicely seasoned meatloaf. I’m going to side with Ron Weasley on this one and avoid at all costs. The berry & mascarpone hand pies look delicious, but they are also a bit ambitious with a handmade crust- think I could make this work with pre-made pie crust? While I love to cook and am pretty sufficient, baking has never been my forte.

Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Exclusive Basilisk Fang in Packet TopGeek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Exclusive Basilisk Fang Top

Exclusive Basilisk Fang – Listed Value $15.36 (£11.99)

This really is a collector’s item for the Harry Potter fans out there – and it’s a unique one too, as I haven’t seen a replica basilisk fang before! If having memorabilia like this is your thing, I think you’ll be happy to have seen this in your box. I really liked the packaging of this, too—it’s a small thing, but the sticker depicting the Chamber of Secrets logo on the front is a nice touch.

Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Harry Potter NanoFig FrontGeek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Harry Potter NanoFig Back

Harry Potter NanoFig – Listed Value $6.39 (£4.99)

I received a tiny Ron Weasley from HP7, and he really is nano- he isn’t much taller than a bottle of nail polish. I think he will be right at home on the shelving where I keep my nail polish and various bobbleheads of baseball players.
Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Licensed Exclusive WANTED Bellatrix Lestrange Print Front

Licensed Exclusive WANTED Bellatrix Lestrange Print – Listed Value $12.80 (£9.99)

I think this is my favorite item in the box- it is so neat! The craftsmanship is high, and the poster is actually encased in a wooden frame with a nice weight to it. This would be a great addition to the décor of any Harry Potter fans (I think it would make a nice contrast in a room that was designed in soft pinks and greys).

Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Exclusive Wizardry Scarf 1 Top
Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Exclusive Wizardry Scarf 2 Top

Exclusive Wizardry Scarf – Listed Value $19.21 (£14.99)

Now that it is officially cold weather I can totally get behind sending scarves, especially House scarves! Unfortunately, this fell a little flat for me—it isn’t really long enough to actually be worn as a scarf.

Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Exclusive Wizardry Scarf 3 Front

There is only enough length to wrap it around my neck once, and it isn’t bulky enough for one wrap to keep me sufficiently warm.

Geek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Exclusive Wizardry T-shirt TopGeek Gear World of Wizardry October 2018 Review - Exclusive Wizardry T-shirt Front Logo Closer

Exclusive Wizardry T-shirt – Listed Value $12.80 (£9.99)

I have a lot of anger with this shirt- I have lost some weight, and I was excited to try this shirt on (which was selected in my normal size) and see how it fit. I could not even get this over my arms, that is how tight this shirt is. I ended up giving it to a friend who wears a small in t-shirts, and she said it fit her the way a large would fit her (which definitely isn’t the size I need). I like the phoenix design of this shirt, I only wish I could have worn it.

Verdict: This was a well-curated box for the Harry Potter fan out there, but I was disappointed with the scarf and shirt this month. I really am impressed with the Bellatrix print, however, and that alone holds a lot of personal value that made this box an overall success for me. If wizardry is your thing, I think the value is there – especially due to the exclusive private label nature of the merchandise included in this subscription.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, order by 12/20 to receive the December box.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I like the poster! Just a note, Jessica: if this is a U.K. subscription, their clothing sizes are different from the USA. For instances, a US size 10 would be equivalent to a U.K. size 12 or 14. So, you always need to order a size or two larger than your American size. That being said, it does sound like the shirt runs small as well. That’s so annoying!
