Unique Vintage October 2018 Review
You never quite know what you’re going to get with this subscription. It could be a party dress or one that you could wear to work.
FYI: Every month, you get an email from Unique Vintage and click through to pay if you want a package that month. If you ignore the email, nothing is sent and you don’t get charged. I never received my email in October (supposed to come between the 5th and 10th and was not in my spam folder) so late in the month, I contacted them. Since I have been a good customer they allowed me to get the October package late this one time. But that is why the review is so late, and it is a good reminder to be on top of this if you are a subscriber. Another note: I was charged sales tax on my shipment for the first time this month (I live in Georgia).
Let’s see what I got this month:
Unique Vintage 1960s Burgundy Red Stretch Sleeved Lucinda Wiggle Dress – Retail Value $78
The first thing I thought when I saw this was that it would be a great holiday party dress (I live in the South where it doesn’t get super cold). It has 6% spandex so my usual waist size issue wasn’t a problem (I am XS on top and bottom and M in waist size in the Unique Vintage sizing scheme, so I order S and hope for the best). I do feel the need to invest in some shapewear, now, though.
This is kind of a backward neckline style dress, which is an interesting detail (that would normally be hidden by my hair…). Yes, I know you can see the edge of my bra strap on one side but I think this would work just fine with a regular bra as long as you are mindful of the strap positioning.
The dress came with this brooch, which I think is a nice accessory since I don’t think this neckline would work with most necklaces or scarves. It, along with the collar, probably contributed to my “holiday” impressions when I first saw this.
Verdict: The dress I received has a retail price of $78, which is a good value for this subscription at $41 over the cost of the dress plus shipping. The style is also cute and good seasonal office wear for me (some companies may have different rules, but this is absolutely fine for my job).
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, all boxes ship out at the same time of the month so it’s too late to get the October shipment. However, if you like the dress, you can order it from the link above. (Sign up for their email list; they have coupons and sales every now and then.)
Value Breakdown: This subscription costs $57 if you include shipping and you get one dress. Tax may also be charged now but that will vary by location.
