The Holo Hookup November 2018 “Dragons” Review

Just a heads up, this subscription does not come with an info sheet. All of the value estimates are from what a different holographic polish from the brand would cost. Also, holographic polishes are notoriously difficult to photograph. I did my best, but I promise you that all of the polishes look even better in person.

Holo Hookup November 2018 - Cupcake Polish in Drakon FrontHolo Hookup November 2018 - Cupcake Polish in Drakon CloserHolo Hookup November 2018 - Cupcake Polish in Drakon Nail Art Closer

Cupcake Polish in Drakon, 15 mL – Estimated Value $13 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Cupcake Polish here)

Let’s just start off with my absolute favorite polish this month – hello Beautiful! Drakon is a purple holo with blue/green flakes and I absolutely feel like this polish was made for unicorns. The formula was perfect and I had no issues with applying this stunner.

Holo Hookup November 2018 - Different Dimension in Fire Breather FrontHolo Hookup November 2018 - Different Dimension in Fire Breather CloserHolo Hookup November 2018 - Different Dimension in Fire Breather Nail Art Closer

Different Dimension in Fire Breather, 15 mL – Estimated Value $11 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Different Dimension here)

Different Dimension always makes holo polishes with incredible formulas, but I personally wasn’t digging this burgundy red holo with silver flakes and copper shimmer. I don’t reach for red polishes often, but I do know that when I do some holiday nail art this will be the perfect polish to use as Rudolph’s nose.

Glisten & Glow in Dragon Scales, 15 mL – Estimated Value $12 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup. Check out the other polishes offered by Glisten & Glow here)

This was runner-up for my favorite polish- I adore this dark teal holo with blue shimmer. The teal is so dark it leans emerald, and I think this would be such a fun color to use for a Christmas tree. This had another stellar formula.

Holo Hookup November 2018 - NVR Enuff Polish in Dragon Kingdom FrontHolo Hookup November 2018 - NVR Enuff Polish in Dragon Kingdom CloserHolo Hookup November 2018 - NVR Enuff Polish in Dragon Kingdom Nail Art Closer

NVR Enuff Polish in Dragon Kingdom, 15 mL – Estimated Value ? (the NVR Enuff website is currently down)

Dragon Kingdom is a light gold holo with a faint red/orange chrome shift. The formula on this was great, though the polish itself was a little sheer. This can be layered to full opacity but in the future, I will probably layer it over a different gold polish (most likely a metallic one) to preserve the bottle.

Holo Hookup November 2018 - Nail Art 1

So, here is where I normally try to do nail art with the polishes included this month- but I could not get Drakon out of my head! So I went with the unicorn vibes and used Lime Crime Lavendairy with Drakon as an accent nail, and my heart about fell out of my chest. Here it is shiny….

Holo Hookup November 2018 - Nail Art 2

And here it is matte. Which one do you prefer?

Verdict: I don’t think I have ever had a bad box from The Holo Hookup, and this month that streak continued. My favorite is definitely Drakon, while Fire Breather isn’t for me (it’s not the polishes fault I don’t really like red nail polish). You may not think the $44 cost for these four polishes is worth it, but I think the $11 price per bottle is a great deal for both the quality and the truly unique polishes received this month—especially when you consider the fact it is impossible to buy these polishes anywhere else!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this is now sold out. Check back here for when the December box goes on sale ( + they will be having a Black Friday Special!).

Value Breakdown: This box costs $40 + $4 shipping, which means that each of the 4 nail polishes in the box has an average cost of $11.
