Om Babes Yoga Box October 2018 Review
This is my first month of Om Babes and I'm really excited! I love boxes with a variety of items, especially if they will help me get motivated to keep up with my yoga practice. Let's see what's in here:
There are a couple of included cards that give a breakdown of the theme, items in the box, and info about how to enter to win a free month of Om Babes.
The little hand-written card is a nice touch. This month's theme is "Yoga Rockstar".
Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo, 7oz - Retail Value $5.99 (found here for $3.59)
I've tried this dry shampoo before and think it's a good one for the large size and low price. I also like that the scent is fairly subtle and the ingredient list is short. It's perfect for giving your hair some grip before doing an updo. I notice a bit of white cast, but once I tousle it in, it acts as a brightener for my roots. I'm not sure if that would be a problem for darker hair colors though.
Everyday Yoga Boombox Mat Bag - Retail Value $19.99
OMG! I need a new yoga mat bag (since John stole mine) and I'm so glad I haven't purchased one of the many boring ones I've considered. The bag is 100% cotton with one big zipper pocket. It has plenty of room for my thick mat alone or my thin mat plus a few small items like snacks, socks, or wipes. The adjustable strap is thick and sturdy enough to clip a water bottle or your keys to. I have received so many compliments when I carry this and, believe it or not, John wants to trade my old bag back for this one.
Kind Bar, Caramel Almond & Sea Salt - Buy a box of 12 for $17.88
Speaking of snacks, this yummy bar is included. The flavor is great and the texture is perfect. Crunchy almonds coated with salted caramel drizzle make this low glycemic bar taste like a treat.
All Up In The Hair Bruzy Hair Pins, 2 pins - Retail Value $3
I like to have a few cute, decorative bobby pins to secure flyaway waves during workouts or activities. These are strong and will certainly keep things under control while adding a little glitz. They're made by a small family business based in Minnesota.
Om Babes Yoga Rock Sweatshirt, L - Estimated Value $25
They really stayed on-theme this month with this classic rock logo-gone-yoga sweatshirt. The lightweight material is a 60% cotton/40% poly mix with a smooth, heathered gray outside and soft, felted texture inside. The neckline is wider than a typical sweatshirt so it doesn't rub my neck even when wearing it to stretch. The straight cut and longer length make it great to throw on with leggings for a lounge-worthy day too.
Saltwater Sundays After Sun Moisturizer, 2fl oz - Retail Value $23.98 (found here for $3.95)
I don't spend a lot of time in the sun without full UV blocking gear, but when I do, I burn fast. I always keep an after sun lotion in my fridge to help soothe fried areas. This little bottle is the perfect size to travel with or to throw in the cooler. It's packed with nourishing and calming ingredients like cucumber and aloe and is vegan and nut free. The scent reminds me of the beach and smells like salt mixed with fragranced shampoo.
Bonus: Selfie Night Tan Overnight Sunless Bronzing Lotion, .7fl oz foil packet
Since I've fully embraced jean weather and can cover my legs, I did an experiment. One leg got the pleasure of this overnight bronzing lotion and one was left as a control. Since I'm chicken, I used a nitrile glove to protect my palms and was surprised that the lotion is not tinted (so it won't stain sheets!) It felt really moisturizing when I rubbed it in and it sunk in fast. No bad chemical smell either. And, look! I have a little glow without orange blotches everywhere (a miracle for sure):
The Verdict: This month's rock star theme was well curated with everything you need for showing off your music appreciation, including big hair! I like the mix of beauty and yoga essentials. Plus, I think I may have found my new go-to tanning product because of the bonus sample. I like that the items seem well thought out and not just random. I'm hoping each month continues to include yoga essentials and fun themes like this. This month's value totals $77.96, not including the Kind bar and less with sale prices.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up now, you'll be receiving the December box as your first box. November has already sold out!
Value Breakdown: This box costs $39.95 + $10 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box (not including the tan sample) has an average cost of $8.33.
