FitSnack Box October 2018 Review

This box usually contains some ready-to-eat snacks and sometimes a few pantry items. Although many items will be gluten-free, vegan, etc., you will also receive items with wheat, dairy, and meat-based ingredients on occasion, so it is best if you are an omnivore or live in a household with one:

This box usually comes with an information card containing details about the items on one side and a workout on the other side.

Fit Snack Box October 2018 - Love Grown Cinnamon Lion Loops Cereal Front

Love Grown Cinnamon Lion Loops (1.1 oz) – Retail Value $2.12 (found here for $1.91)

We received a different Love Grown cereal last month. I don’t eat cereal often but every once in a while I have a craving for it and this is usually enough for me. I’m not sure if this is supposed to imitate a well-known cereal or not, but it was a good snack one afternoon when I had some calories left over. The deal with this cereal is that it is made from bean flours (but it doesn’t taste beany).

Fit Snack Box October 2018 - Just the Cheese Aged Cheddar Cheese TopFit Snack Box October 2018 - Just the Cheese Aged Cheddar Cheese Open Top

Just The Cheese Aged Cheddar (0.8 oz) – Buy 12 Packs for $28.99 (found here for $25.99)

This stuff is making the rounds; I received a different product from the same brand in Bulu Box this month. This is really just dehydrated cheese. It tastes like cheese because it is cheese, but when you remove the moisture from cheese, it becomes super salty. I shared this with my husband; I don’t think I could eat both bars in one sitting due to the sodium. This will likely be popular with low carb dieters.

Fit Snack Box October 2018 - Munk Pack Protein Cookie TopFit Snack Box October 2018 - Munk Pack Protein Cookie Open Top

Munk Pack Protein Cookie in Chocolate White Chip Macadamia (2.96 oz) – Buy 6 Cookies for $14.99

I’ve had these before and I am a fan. They are gluten free and vegan but they have just a wonderful texture. The first ingredient is peanut butter but the flavor is not overly peanutty. Do pay attention to the serving size, though, which is half a cookie. (Eating the whole cookies is 360 calories!)

Fit Snack Box October 2018 - Rx Nut Butter Vanilla Almond Butter Top

Rx Nut Butter Vanilla Almond Butter (1.13 oz x 2) – Buy 10 Packages for $15.99

This product is everywhere this month; I’ve seen it all over the supermarket and Target, and I’ve received at least four pouches in subscription boxes now. It doesn’t taste bad, but there is something about the texture (which includes pasteurized egg whites for added protein) that is just odd to me. I also don’t really like getting nut butters in pouches because I feel like I leave half the product behind and can never fully empty the pouch.

Fit Snack Box October 2018- Authentic Italian Pasta Chips TopFit Snack Box October 2018- Authentic Italian Pasta Chips Opened Top

Authentic Italian Pasta Chips in Marinara (1 oz) – Buy a 5 oz Bag for $3.99

We’ve received other flavors of pasta chips in FitSnack Box before, but this one is new to me. There’s not much “marinara” about it other than a somewhat darker color. My husband just thought they were garlic chips. They were tasty, but they didn’t remind me of marinara sauce at all.

Fit Snack Box October 2018 - Smashpack Protein Smoothie in Orange Peach Top

Smashpack Protein Smoothie in Orange Peach (5 oz) – Buy a 6-Pack for $17.99

This seems to have undergone a packaging change but as far as I can tell, it is still the same product it always was, which is essentially a protein bar in pouch form. The protein is whey, a dairy protein, and for some reason, whenever I eat one of these it makes me think of Easy Cheese, which is maybe not the best flavor/texture combination to go with fruit. Calories are similar to what you’d find in a protein bar.

Fit Snack Box October 2018 - Geoprotein Cookie Dough Protein Bar TopFit Snack Box October 2018 - Geoprotein Cookie Dough Protein Bar Opened Top

Geoprotein Cookie Dough Protein Bar (2.3 oz x 2) – Buy 12 Bars for $29.95

This brand is totally new to me. These bars are maybe a little pricier than other bars, but not too far off the average for items of this type. These are gluten-free but a good source of fiber and the sugar is relatively low at 6 grams. These are pretty darn sticky, so just watch out for that. But the flavor and texture (once you are chewing) are both pleasant.

Fit Snack Box October 2018 - Vahdam Assorted Leaf Tea Bags Top

Vahdam Assorted Single Serve Loose Leaf Tea Bags (5 bags)

Vahdam Teas doesn’t have this item on their website. I think it is just a way to introduce you to some of their products (which show up a lot in FitSnack Box, and I got almost the same package in the Vegan Cuts Snack box this month as well). These all contain pyramid bags. I took them into the office and have been making my way through them this week. The turmeric one is a nice surprise; I thought it would be too strongly spiced but it was actually just about perfect in that regard.

Verdict: The October FitSnack Box had 10 items, which makes the average cost per item about $2.59 (figuring a $25.90 cost for the box + shipping, and counting the two Orgain bars separately). I am not sure what my favorite discovery was for the month, but everything was vegetarian (and I love getting food items to try out before committing to a full-sized package).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Boxes ship out around the 20th of the month so you will most likely receive the November box.

Value Breakdown: At $25.90 for this box, you are paying about $2.59 per item.
