Our Review

Creepy Crate September 2018 - Product Info Card Front

This month’s box has a variety of great macabre products!

Creepy Crate September 2018 - The Chrystalis Book Front

Creepy Crate September 2018 - The Chrystalis Book Back

The Chrystalis by Brendan Deneen—Retail Value $24.99 (found here for $15.64)

The book is about a millennial married couple that is struggling to make ends meet and move into a home outside of NYC. Shortly after moving into their new home they find out they are pregnant... and that their home has a deadly secret! Becoming an adult is a horror in of itself - student loans are downright scary! This tale may hit too close to home!

Creepy Crate September 2018 - Bloody Shower Curtain Front

Creepy Crate September 2018 - Bloody Shower Curtain Back

Bloody Shower Curtain—Retail Value $4.41

Nothing says scary like being attacked in a bathroom where your vulnerabilities are the most exposed. Albert Hitchcock showed how terrifying it is in the classic movie, Psycho. This bloody handprint shower curtain will harken back that infamous scene and complete any Halloween bathroom decorating… or your day to day spooky home décor.

“It Rubs The Lotion On Its Skin” Travel Candle by Calliope Candleworks — Buy an 8 oz. candle for $17.00

I love Silence of the Lambs and anything vanilla scented so this candle is absolute perfection! As we all know, you don’t want to have to put lotion on for Buffalo Bill, but heck if it smelled as good as this candle you might! This candle is perfect to take along on trips to light at hotels for a homey quality!

Creepy Crate September 2018 - Red Balloon Drawstring Backpack Top Creepy Crate September 2018 - Red Balloon Drawstring Backpack Closer View Front

Red Balloon Drawstring Backpack

I was obsessed with Stephen King as a young girl - I even wrote him fan mail! I wanted to write scary stories and novels as a kid and he, R.L Stine, and Christopher Pike were my heroes. Carrie was my favorite of his books next to IT. I love both the original made for TV movie starring Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown and the newer film version that came out last year. This bag is perfect for storing your keys, wallet, phone and other items on the go. It is made of a lightweight nylon fabric, has the IT themed screen print quote design, and has a drawstring enclosure.

Creepy Crate September 2018 - Hockey Mask Popup Socket Front Creepy Crate September 2018 - Hockey Mask Popup Socket Back

Hockey Mask Popup Socket

If you are a huge Friday the 13th fan, you will love this Jason Voorhees hockey mask style design on this popup socket! I love pop up sockets because they can be used as a stand for your cell phone or as a grip to hold onto while taking pictures. You may get a scream or two when your friends and family see this one!

Creepy Crate September 2018 - Killing Season Book Front

Killing Season by Carlton Smith—Retail Value $7.99

This may be the piece I am most excited for—a digital copy of Killing Season by Carlton Smith! I read up on a lot of true crimes, so this book about the investigation of the unsolved crimes of a serial killer in Massachusetts is fascinating to me! The book has great reviews as well!

Verdict: This is my first Creepy Crate and I am enjoying it so far. I love that they include horror movie themed pieces, but also true crime and serial killer items as well! The box had a great selection of pieces and for the price, I was rather pleased! The site indicates the boxes come with t-shirts sometimes as well, so I am eager to see if I get one next month! This is a fun box for anyone that is fascinated by true crime and anything and spooky!

I live 10 minutes from New Bedford and somehow never knew about this book!! I have read a few things about the highway killings. I was a young girl when they occured but remember it pretty well. This crate looks really interesting. Gonna keep an eye on this one as i would love all except the shower curtain. Still a cool item just not something i would use.
Thank you MSA for reviewing such diverse subscriptions. There really is something for everyone 🙂
