CHC Vintage Lingerie October 2018 Review

This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! This was my second time receiving the lingerie subscription:

There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. The level of detail just gives me the feeling that the people at CHC Vintage are really excited by what they do (this is a bit shorter than usual but it makes sense considering the piece I received).

CHC Vintage Lingerie October 2018 - Set

1970s Lingerie Set

This month I received a robe and nightgown set (see photos of the individual items below). These items are definitely suitable for wearing around the house and a little bit glamorous, but also what I would call “diaphanous” and not really something I should be modeling on the internet!

CHC Vintage Lingerie October 2018 - Nightgown Back

The set includes this nightgown which is long (but not too long; I’m 5’5”) and has a pretty forgiving fit. I did say when providing preferences that I had been into pink lately and they are clearly keeping that in mind.

There is also a robe. I don’t have quite the right vocabulary to describe the fabric, but it’s very soft and silky and smooth-feeling (and also in very good condition, clean, etc.). I think it really works well with the nightgown as a set (and is quite a bit nicer than the random, mismatched pairings of sweatpants and t-shirts you usually find me in when I am lounging around the house).

Verdict: I had only the vaguest notion of what to expect with the CHC Vintage Lingerie subscription, basically just the pictures on their website. Although I did give some preferences for things I might like, I didn’t strongly oppose any options (I mean, I still wear slips sometimes, even though I know they are much less popular than they once were), so there was still a good deal of surprise in my shipment, which is part of the fun. I received a pretty and feminine robe and nightgown set that is just so comfortable to wear and a fun change from my usual nighttime wardrobe.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, every box is different based on your style and size preferences.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $90 for three months, so you are paying an average of $30 per month (which includes Priority Mail shipping).

Wow! That robe looks very much like the one I had for my honeymoon. What memories. Married 40 years ago the day after Thanksgiving, divorced for 30 years but he is still my best friend.

Those pieces look beautiful. I once had a pink velour bikini from the 60’s that belonged originally to my mom. I used to wear the top as a teen. I still miss it. It has been lost for a long time. I’m wondering if this company would look for a similar style bikini? I’m not looking for an exact match, just something in the same shape. Do you think CHC vintage would try to find a 60’s bikini even though it is not one of their sub categories?

I love the idea of getting vintage lingerie. I think I will try this box whether or not they can try to meet my bikini request.

That set you recieved, I would love. It looks elegant. Enjoy!

The other thing you can do is browse Etsy. There is a section of their forums called “Promos” where you can put in requests for specific items and there are a lot of vintage clothing sellers there.

Thank you, Beth and Ragan. I will check both out!

If you go to their site and look at the other boxes they sell, they have a vintage swimwear box.
