Charmed: Box of Shadows October 2018 Review
When you open the Box of Shadows, you’ll find a handy “newspaper” styled insert featuring information about the box and the products that are included this quarter. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since Charmed debuted – I can remember that my father didn’t want to watch it and had claimed the living room TV, so my Mom and I laid on her bed and enjoyed the premiere together. Sadly, 20 years ago watching Charmed was age appropriate for me – so I think I’m dating myself here a bit!
20 Years Charmed Heathered T-Shirt – Listed Value $25
Of course, a logo tee is included in the inaugural box! The main image is a 20th Anniversary exclusive Charmed logo created by a superfan who helped to curate the box. The shirt itself is heathered purple, tagless and super soft – you know the kind I mean, the kind you want to sleep in! I’m not sure if there was a size preference available, but I did receive this shirt in a size M for review purposes and it’s a standard, true to size M unisex t-shirt.
Spirit Board Enamel Pin with Moveable Planchette – Listed Value $15
How fun is this moveable design! This enamel pin is around 2” wide x 1” high and features 2 pins on the back to keep it securely in place. This is a nod to the gift that Patty Halliwell left for her three daughters: “May this give you the light to find the shadows” and is a very fitting inclusion in this first box.
Halliwell Manor Miniatures: The Book of Shadows & The Attic Set – Listed Price $30 (Book of Shadows Listed at $12 + Attic Set Listed at $18)
Let the collection begin! These acrylic display pieces each come with a stand, and the note in the newspaper inclusion indicates that this is the first of many Halliwell Manor Miniatures that we can expect to receive from this subscription. The Attic measures about 7.5” high x 11.5” wide and the book of shadows is to scale measuring around 4” high and 2” wide. The detail is fantastic!
The Book of Shadows Leather Journal – Listed Price $35
Amazing! This hand-crafted leather journal is hand-dyed to look like the most iconic Charmed prop and namesake of this subscription box! While most of it is blank, there are a few replica spells peppered throughout. Obviously, this is an amazing find for a Charmed enthusiast!
Insert: Celebrate 20 Years of Charmed
At the bottom of the box, I found this insert advertising the sale of the Charmed box set.
Verdict: This was an amazing first box from Charmed: Box of Shadows! I don’t see where any Charmed fan would complain about any of the items. They were all fun, appropriate for the inaugural box, and I love that they were designed by super fans and are exclusive and licensed products. Plus, the listed value total is about 2 times the cost of the subscription. Even if some of the listed values seem inflated, it feels like this is a good sub to subscribe to if you’re into collectible items – I can’t wait to build my Halliwell Manor set!
