BuffBoxx October 2018 Review

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Bonus

BuffBoxx has stopped providing information cards, possibly because there is some customization based on clothing size, dietary restrictions, etc., but I did receive a handy 3-tipped highlighter!

  BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Shaker 1a

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Shaker 1b

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Shaker 1c

Grenade Shaker - Retail Value $12.95

This BPA free shaker really just has it all! Huge shakers take up too much room and this one is just the right size at 20oz. Although this grenade design is too much for me personally, it does make a statement! Grenade Shaker is microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe. It also contains compartments for powder as well as capsules; the slits in the lid will hold your supplement capsules snugly - genius!

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Carb Killa, Chocolate Crunch 2a

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Carb Killa, Caramel Chaos 2b

Grenade Carb Killa, Chocolate Crunch, 2.12oz - Retail Value $2.79

Grenade Carb Killa, Caramel Chaos, 2.12oz - Retail Value $2.79

Wow! I actually really, really like this bar! I tried the Chocolate Crunch flavor, and it is actually a delicious protein bar. It has 23 grams of protein! WOW! And only 220 calories and 2 grams of sugar. I don’t know how they managed this one, but good work, Grenade!

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Thermo Detonator, 4 capsules 3

Grenade Thermo Detonator, 4 capsules - Retail Value $1.95

Thermo Detonator is a fat loss capsule that could aid in targeting body fat and preserving maximum lean muscle. It is specifically a fat-loss product, and it may also help give you an energy boost before a workout, according to some of the reviews. I am leery about fat-loss and weight management supplements, so I may have to pass these on, but the 16 reviews on the site are all 4+ stars.

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Hydra 6 Protein Powder 4

Grenade Hydra 6 Protein Powder, 2 x 1.39oz - Total Retail Value $5.90 ($2.95 each)

This protein powder is a 50/50 blend of two types of protein: fast digesting whey protein isolate and slow release micellar casein protein. One sachet is one serving, and they provided two packets in this month’s box. This protein powder contains 24 grams of protein as well as real chocolate pieces, and it is also recommended for use in baking, which is how I will use this sample (yay, protein brownies!).

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Viter Energy Caffeine Mint Packets, Spearmint 5a

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Viter Energy Caffeine Mint Packets, Cinnamon 5b

Viter Energy Caffeine Mint Packets, Spearmint - Buy a tin of 20 mints for $4.99

Viter Energy Caffeine Mint Packets, Cinnamon - Buy a tin of 20 mints for $4.99

These two packets contain 3 mints each. They have a very strong, burning flavor, much like using a mouthwash. The mints are sugar-free and each one contains 40 milligrams of caffeine (about a half of a cup of coffee) and Vitamin B complex, so these are definitely mints I’d use in moderation. The concept of these is pretty cool, but I would consider them more a supplement than a mint, otherwise people might not know they are consuming 210% of B6 or 880% of B12 per mint. It just seems a little misleading; there is a warning label on the back of the packet cautioning you not to exceed 5 mints per hour or more than 10 a day.

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Carb Killa Protein Spread, White Chocolate Cookie 6a

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Grenade Carb Killa Protein Spread, White Chocolate Cookie 6b

Grenade Carb Killa Protein Spread, White Chocolate Cookie - Retail Value $10.95

Another great tasting protein product from Grenade. This spread exceeded my expectations; it is like dessert! Think Hershey’s Cookies n Creme candy bar without all the sugar - delicious! A serving is 2 tablespoons, 170 calories and contains 7 grams of protein, comparable to a serving of peanut butter. I ate this right out of the jar, but I may have to buy some graham crackers to try this on. Yum!

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Under Armour UA Tech Tank Top, Medium 7a

BuffBoxx October 2018 - Under Armour UA Tech Tank Top, Medium 7b

Under Armour UA Tech Tank Top, Medium - Retail Value $24.99

Everyone needs a very basic, black tank, and this one fits the mold. I was hoping for a more seasonal pick this month, but I am not disappointed by this tank’s performance. It is 100% polyester with UA Tech fabric making it quick-drying and ultra-soft. It didn’t ride up during my workout, and I liked the casual yet form-fitting fit of this tank. The fabric is quite sheer, but that really doesn’t bother me in a workout top.

Verdict: BuffBoxx introduced me to a great brand this month, Grenade, and I am so happy to have tried their protein products. I will definitely get a ton of use out of the basic Under Armour tank they sent this month, and although I appreciate the different snacks and supplements, this month left me longing to receive some workout accessories. This box has a retail value of $62.32, not including the mint packet, but much lower than last month’s ~$95 value. Although this month has a lower retail value, I was still grateful to receive products I can utilize for the most part.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the October box. There is a lot of customization with Buffboxx, so in a given month, someone else’s box contents might not match mine.

It is hard to get too much of any given B vitamin as they’re water soluble and just get excreted in the urine if you don’t need them.

The warning is probably about the caffeine in the mints.

Those bars came in Gainz Box, too, but they are not vegetarian (contain gelatin) so I couldn’t try them. My husband liked the one he had, though.
