SlutBox by Amber Rose October 2018 Review

SlutBox comes with a zine every month which, in my opinion, is always the best part. For October, the theme is “Not ur boo”.

There are also some coupons included for some of the featured items.

O.R.G. Skincare Mineral Peel Body, 8 oz. – Retail Value $28.00

Wow- I’m actually really surprised to receive this full-size bottle of a mineral peel. I’ve also never used something this before so it’s a new horizon. The directions say to shake it up first before spraying it onto your body, wait 3-4 seconds for it to soak in, then massage skin in a circular motion with your fingertips. As I did this, I noticed any dead skin sort of ball up and fall away. While slightly terrifying, I’ve used it a few times and have pretty great results. It’s really gentle and my skin did feel renewed and bright when I got out of the shower.

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream, 0.57 oz. – Estimated Retail Value $9.12 (Buy 1 oz for $16.00)

While I like this skin cream, it’s a repeat in this box and a small size a common item in general in sub boxes. I’ll toss this into a winter coat pocket or my bag so that I can slather this on when I need it.

Yu-Be Advanced Formula Pure Hydration Cream, 0.10 oz. – Estimated Retail Value $1.60 (Buy 1 oz for $16.00)

This is apparently a new item from Yu-Be and contains chamomile extract for the advanced formula. If the other one if for dry skin- this one is a go-to for severely chapped skin. My elbows area already feeling the hurt, so I’ll be using this there. It doesn’t have a scent that I can detect and has a pearlescent quality to it that is a little greasy but soaks in quickly.

Nipztix by NevaNude Pasties in Rose (exclusive pink), 1 pair – Estimated Retail Value $10.99 (similar color linked)

A favorite of SlutBox is always a set of pasties for the ol’ nips. This month brings us an exclusive pink color of the glittery rose design from Nipztix. They’re about 3 inches in diameter and are velvety to the touch with embedded sparkles. You can wear these if you’re going sans-bra or just as a little pizazz to your risqué Halloween costume.

Lifestyles Zero Condoms, 3-pack – Estimated Retail Value $1.72 (Buy a 12 pack for $6.89)

Another standard SlutBox item is condoms. So far I think they’ve come in almost every box and are a solid staple. This time we received a 3-pack of Lifestyles’ Zero lubricated latex condoms that are 52% thinner than their extra strength variety so you can feel even more sensation. Great to have on hand for your next encounter!

Überlube, deluxe sample – Listed Retail Value $2.00

I’m still wondering why they haven’t included a full-size bottle of lube, but here we have a small sample size that comes in a similar container to a perfume sample (but larger). They call this a deluxe sample and I suppose this could last a handful of encounters. This silicone based lubricant is really slippery but feels light and has no fragrance. This also will travel really easily into a makeup bag or purse, so that’s a good thing.

Minimo Glow Skin Brightening Face Scrub – Retail Value $12.95

Another shock is this full-size face scrub. I was immediately intrigued when I saw it has turmeric in it! At first, I was a little worried it would stain my skin since turmeric can do that, but this did not at all. It also kind of looks and smells like pumpkin pie filling so it’s perfect for this time of year. I love scrubbing my face off but this one is not harsh at all and I found it to be gentle. After rinsing, my face felt really moisturized and soft. Well done, SlutBox!

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Shower Cap in Peach – Retail Value $8.00

I have really think limp hair, so I wash it every day. Don’t be shocked. It’s what works for me. I am, however, really jealous of those who don’t have to wash their hair for days on end. This is a great item for them! It has two layers- one on top that is a sort of thin mesh material with the peach grid design, and then underneath it a heavier pink polka-dotted plastic that keeps your hair dry! It’s trimmed in a peach satin-like material to match the rest and securely with elastic.

flyby Recovery Pack, 3 capsules – Retail Value $0.00

There have been hangover pills in this box before and as someone who suffers from horrible ones, I can appreciate it. The only problem here is that the directions say to take 3 before drinking and then another 3 before bed, but they’ve only sent one pack (of 3), so I wouldn’t be able to accurately say if they work. Seems to me that if you have to take 6 capsules for one night out, then they should come in packs of 6, not 3. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At the very least, SlutBox should have sent 2 packs. There is also a sample pack on their site (6 total) for $0.00, so there is not a $4.00 value to these like they have listed in the zine.

Kocostar Lip Mask in Black, 20 masks – Retail Value $38.00

The last item and another full-size shocker is this pack of lip masks. I’m used to getting one or two in a box, but getting this cool lip-shape case of 20 is a pleasant surprise! I personally have a hard time with these jelly-like masks since you basically have to lay still and wait for them to work. A reader did mention putting a sheet mask on over a lip mask like this though so I should try that trick. After wearing for 10 minutes, this mask is supposed to leave your lips kissable and soft. These will come in hand with this super dry weather that has been wreaking havoc on mine!

Verdict: I was actually kind of impressed by SlutBox this month! Although there were a lot of the basics I knew I’d probably see like pasties and condoms, I was delighted to see some full-size beauty products that seemed pretty legit and nice. Sadly, the hangover pills were a bust since I can’t even get one use out of them and the shower cap won’t get used by me, but the skin peel, face scrub, and lip masks kind of make this box worth it to me. Getting 10 items that totaled $112.38 retail, I have to say that it’s one of their best.

  1. This was definitely the best Slutbox I’ve gotten! I love love love the scrub, lip masks and spray exfoliator. Also the Yu-be cream has become a daily staple with the start of cold weather. I have very sensitive skin and NOTHING in this box caused a reaction, which for me, is huge. Also, my boyfriend says these are the best condoms ever and we’re going to switch to these permanently, now 🙂 I was thisclose to cancelling the box before this month but I’ve decided to hold on, for now. I really hope future boxes will be more like this one!

  2. This box needs a makeover. Give us more sexy products!!

  3. This particular month’s box is so weird compared to every other months. It is almost like their normal buyer was out on vacation. Other than the normal condoms, pasties, and lube sample, I would actually be thrilled to get any of my beauty boxes with full sized beauty products: the lip masks, mineral peel and turmeric scrub. That is so different than the normal content of this box. Did they not put any consideration into what was going into this box?

  4. If you’re a sult on a budget I saw shower caps at Marshalls for $3.99 LOL

  5. I keep waiting for this sub to just go away – it’s one of the worst subs that I’ve seen. However, that cool box of lip masks make me think about buying this box just for them.
