My Fashion Crate October 2018 Review

They always include an insert with descriptions of the items and their value. The front side lists everything you will receive in the Essentials box while the back also shows what you get in the Premium box and they include pictures which I always appreciate.

Midnight Wonders Kimono by onetheland, Size L - Listed Value $50

I've developed a recent kimono obsession so I was excited to see this in the box! I love the pattern and colors and the material is really soft and thick, although more of a satiny feel than a heavy knit. The quality is great and it's actually one continuous piece with arm holes cut out so it really wraps around you when you slide into it. I think it's the perfect layer to dress up a plain shirt and I love that it's longer in the back so I can feel comfortable wearing it over leggings.

Light Weight Black Leggings by ShoSho, One Size - Listed Value $15

Speaking of legging, these black leggings are the next item in our box (also pictured with kimono above). While these are listed as leggings, I really feel like they are more like thick tights as they have a satin sheen and if you look too closely (please don't!) you can see that they are almost sheer over my legs. If you are smaller in the thigh and bottom area (unlike me) then these will probably work as leggings for you, but there's a reason I didn't take a photo of the back in these! They are really comfortable and very nice looking, so I'll be pairing them with dresses and boots for the season.

Honeycomb Light-Accentuating Eye Shadow Palette by Trifle Cosmetics - Retail Value $22

The packaging of this palette is so cute and it's a great size with a large mirror. I love that it's white and the color names are all so fun and delicious sounding, as well as beautiful! These eyeshadows are vegan, hypo-allergenic, non-comedogenic, and free of gluten, mineral oil, parabens, and phthalates. They are made with pineapple extract and sweet orange oil, which might be what gives them their creamy texture.

Here is a closeup of the colors, as you can see they all have a lot of shimmer to them. The top swatches are Icing Sugar through Pecan Syrup, while the second set is Braised Pineapple through Dried Berries. I was really impressed with the pigment and how well these blended and the fact that there was literally no fallout (amazing!). These colors are perfect for fall and the lighter shades will transition nicely into winter for me.

Plastic Go Comb in Crazy Eyes - Retail Value $4.99

How cool is this little comb? It's the size of a credit card and super slim so it will easily fit into any wallet or bag nicely. Why didn't they have these when I was in college? This crazy eyes pattern is really fun and the comb works nicely. It's made from durable, recycled plastic and the teeth are fairly wide so it doesn't pull at your hair like you would think it would. This was definitely a cool, yet functional discovery this month! They also included a code for 20% off on their site which features a lot of fun styles including metal combs and some that even have bottle openers or mirrors attached to them.

Handbag Rescue, Box of 10 - Retail Value $9.99

I have a lot of handbags that could use a little rescuing, so these are great to have! They are all-natural and made with essential oils that will clean all types of bags, including suede or leather while also conditioning the material to keep it looking great. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing if I can get out some of those random smudges that have appeared on some of my favorite bags. It's awesome that these come individually wrapped, too!

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Sweet Light Blue Top by Angela Fashion, Size L - Listed Value $45

When I first put this top on, I was really afraid to look in the mirror because it felt so tight across my chest, but it actually isn't as awful looking on me as I thought it would be! It is slightly see-through, but there was no way I could fit a cami on underneath, so sorry for the awkward bra shots. I love the light blue color of this top and all of the lace details. I think that the neckline is really pretty and while I'm not one for cold-shoulder tops, I love how this looks! It's definitely more of a spring top for me since the weather is getting cooler here, so maybe by then, I will be able to wear it a bit more comfortably! I think it will be really cute paired with jean shorts for a casual look or white shorts when I want to dress it up a bit.

Love Yourself Like I Love You Enamel Pin Greeting Card by Fred and Far - Retail Value $10

This pin is all about self-love, which is so important, and I love that they chose to include this in the box as a reminder! This enamel pin is really simple and cute and paired with the greeting card, it will make a great gift for a friend who might need it one day. They also included a coupon for 15% off of the Self-Love Pinky Ring which is the piece that started this whole movement from Fred and Far.

Verdict: This was another great box from My Fashion Crate! My favorite items are the kimono and the eyeshadow palette, both of which feel like such great quality. I love that they always include some fashion must-haves that you never knew you needed or didn't even know existed such as the handbag wipes and the Go Comb. The mix of items was great and it's always fun to break out of my comfort zone with the clothing items they send. I'm always excited to see what comes in that shiny silver bag each month!

The total for the Premium box comes to $156.98 this month, which I think is a great value for a $54.90 ($49.95 + $4.95 shipping) box. As for the Essentials box, the value is $101.98 which is still a pretty good value for a $39.95 ($35 + $4.95 shipping) box. When comparing the two subscriptions, for $14.95 extra for the Premium box we received the Sweet Light Blue Top and Love Yourself Pin valued at $55.

I received that palette in another sub (So Susan, I think). It’s a GREAT, high-quality palette. I was really impressed with it (and the Le Metier de Beaute are my go-to palettes).
