Laserbrain envelope

Laserbrain Patch Co. is a monthly subscription box for fans of enamel pins, embroidered patches, and other custom-made items. Each month, they will send you 3-4 exclusive designs, which will include one (1) enamel pin, one (1) embroidered patches, and 1 or 2 unique collectibles. The artist’s information is always included, and there is a new theme each month! We’re going to see a lot of Jack and Sally this month, because the theme is The Nightmare Before Christmas! It’s to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the film, which makes me feel really old, but I’m going to shake it off and dive in!

Laserbrain Patch Co October 2018 “Nightmare Before Christmas” Review

Laserbrain info card

The information card contains a further look into the theme of the month, the listed value of each item, and the Instagram accounts of the featured artists. The pin this month is done by @heremeows, so let’s take a look at all the items!

Laserbrain coloring card

Coloring Page

On the back of the information card, there is a coloring page. This month’s drawing is designed by James Wulfe (@jmwulfe), and it lends itself to coloring so well! I love that it includes so many of the Nightmare Before Christmas characters. I just bought myself a 120-pack of colored pencils, so it took no convincing to get me to work on this right away.

Snowglobe Pin – Retail Value $10

This design is actually based on a rare snow globe made by Disney. The real globe sells for over a thousand dollars used online! This pin is so intricate and beautiful—it must have taken a lot of work. I love the sparkles that surround Jack and Sally. They really capture the movement of an actual snow globe.

Jack and Sally Coffin Patch – Listed Value $9

It was love at first sight with this patch—the coffin shape is the best! The patch was designed by tattoo artist @teawulfe. I love the thoughtful color choices, and stylized design of the two main characters holding hands. This is the perfect balance of being a great design without being overwhelmingly large—it will fit nicely on so many different pieces of clothing and would work really well with other patches, too.

Foam Pinboard – Listed Value $5.00

This is the answer to a question I’ve been asking myself lately—what should I do with all my awesome pins? Sure, I have a few jacket collars that are begging to be adorned, but when I receive really beautiful enamel ones, they’re so nice I’m a little afraid I’ll lose them when I’m out and about! By sticking my pins into this nifty board (which has an adhesive back that I can affix to the wall), I’m able to use all my pins as a decor element in my home. They can make me smile every day when I walk by ‘em! Problem solved!

Fandom Mashup Sticker – Listed Value $2.00

Every once in a while, there are some awesome fandom mashups! This portrayal of the Belcher kids from Bob’s Burgers dressed as Lock, Shock, and Barrel is so unexpected, but awesome at the same time. This sticker is by the same designer as the patch, and it’s faithful to all of its source materials while still being completely original. Well done!

The Verdict: I thought Laserbrain Patch Co. curated some awesome items and kept things unexpected for this really popular franchise! Modeling the pin after a rare Disney snowglobe is such a cool approach to the Nightmare Before Christmas fandom; it includes collectors and Disney historians on top of the fans of Nightmare. The patch is also an awesome design, and the Bob’s Burgers mashup is genius! I can’t wait to display this and some of my other pins on the foam board. It’s such a simple item but it’s incredibly useful for me.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but order now to receive November. (The theme is Beetlejuice!) Here’s what they say on the site:
