Enchanted Crystal: Crystal of the Month October 2018 Review

letter from Adam

First, you'll see a greeting from Adam of Enchanted Crystal. This month they are starting to send subscribers several smaller crystals of the same variety instead of one larger one. He encourages feedback to see if this is well-received.

info sheet on Galena

Next, there's an info sheet all about the gorgeous featured Crystal of the Month: Galena.

Galena - 2 pieces

I couldn't choose just one "good side" for these two specimens, so I decided to photograph several sides for you all to try and capture the beauty. This highly metallic bluish silver crystal is created when lead and sulfur atoms come together in nature. I learned from reading the info sheet that the high lead content of Galena was very sought after back in the day for use in paint, pottery glazes, and even cosmetically by ancient Egyptians to help with sun glare under the eye. Obviously today we know that harm that lead can do to when coming in close contact with humans, but it's still used as the primary ore in lead production in the industrial world. Even though I won't be putting my fingers in my mouth after handling these pieces, I can't help but want to hold them closer to examine all their different facets. The way the light hits these is simply magical and I love the sharp architectural angles they possess. These are my first Galena specimens so I'm excited to have them join my others. Each one is roughly an inch (or a little larger) to give you an idea of size.

bonus mini crystals and minerals

Enchanted Crystal always sends bonus crystals or minerals in a small bag as well. This month I received three greenish stones.

green aventurine

Green Aventurine

This highly polished green stone is a familiar one to me since I've gotten it in other boxes that contain crystals. It's known as "the stone of opportunity" in the metaphysical world and can boost your chances of luck.

amazonite

Amazonite

Another stone I've seen before is this really pretty Amazonite which is maybe my favorite of the bonus specimens this month. I love the greenish-teal color broken up by soft greyish brown. This one also came tumbled and has a nice smooth surface.

Dendritic Agate

Dendritic Agate

I received some of this back in July's delivery as well as a bonus, although that one looked much different. This stone is so light to hold in the hand and has really cool black markings among the various tans and browns. As I learned with my first run-in with this stone, it has grounding properties and is ideal for self-examination.

Verdict: I think this is the first time Enchanted Crystal has sent me to small specimens of the crystal of the month and it was pretty cool to receive. I can share one of them with a crystal-loving friend and share the wealth, so I'm in! Galena is a beautiful crystal and I was happy to be introduced to something new!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but sign up today to receive November's crystal of the month.

Sign up on or before the 5th of the month to get the current month’s box! All orders processed after the 5th will ship the following month. We ship between the 5th and 8th of each month.

Value Breakdown: For $16.00, I received five total crystals making each cost $3.20 which I think is a great price.
