Ecocentric Mom Mystery Bonus Box Fall 2018 Review

Note: If you have recently purchased a Mystery Box from Ecocentric Mom or have been a regular subscriber for the past 6-9 months, some of the items you receive may be repeats!

AdoraTherapy Mood Boost in Peaceful - Retail Value $30 (found here for $15)

This item is actually a repeat for me, but one that I was happy to have an extra of so that I can pass it along to one of my mama friends! This spray is filled with essential oils that are meant to help boost your mood and the scent is nice and subtle with notes of calendula and lavender with a hint of citrus. The packaging is adorable and a spray that can help me keep calm is definitely appreciated! It's a great purse-friendly size, too!

Purple Frog Essential Oil Pods in Peppermint and Eucalyptus – Retail Value $7.72 ($9.99 CAD)

I had never heard of these before, but I am so happy to have been introduced to them! What a genius idea! I do love my essential oils and this is such a great, natural way to freshen up a room.

You peel off one of these little pod stickers and then pop it to release the scent before sticking it anywhere you might need it. Here I stuck it to a light switch just to give you an idea, but where I really plan to use them are in the nursery on our diaper trash bin. I didn't notice a very strong scent, but I think I could easily add some of my own essential oils to it to strengthen the smell and get more use out of these little guys!

Visha Skincare Mommy Bright Eye Booster, 0.25 oz - Estimated Value $22.50 (Buy an o.5 oz. jar for $45)

This eye cream sample is another repeat for me. This is half of the full size at .25 oz, but a little bit goes a long way. I find it to be very moisturizing, but a tad greasy, so I only use it at night instead of under my makeup. They also included a coupon for 20% off and some information about their Mommy Skincare line. I am always concerned about what I put on and into my body while I am pregnant or nursing, so the discovery of a baby safe skin care line is great! Unfortunately, I don't think it's the most affordable line for me but that makes receiving a second sample of this even better!

From Visha Skin Care:

A multitasking booster that is 4 products in one

• Reduces overall eye puffiness
• Diminishes the appearance of dark circles
• Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Softens the look of smile lines and lines around lip area

Maskeraide Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask in Beauty Rest'ore – Retail Value $5.41 ($7.00 CAD)

I love receiving sheet masks in a box. This is one thing that is always guaranteed to get used because they are so simple and easy to use. Plus they really creep my family out, which is always fun! This time I asked my daughter if she liked me with it on, her response was "Well, it's not as beautiful, but it's okay." I did like it though, as my face felt moisturized and refreshed afterward. Plus it is free of parabens, sulfates, and fragrances and it is eco-friendly and 100% biodegradable!

Mavi Bandz Adjustable Headband in Northern Lights (?) - Retail Value $14.99 (found here for $12.99)

While I was using my sheet mask, I was also able to hold my hair back with my new headband. I have a rather large head and so I can never get headbands to stay on, or they end up being too tight and giving me a headache, but this guy with its soft fabric and adjustable band is perfect for me! I love new discoveries like this and they have some really cute designs on their website!

Healthy Hoohoo Feminine Wipes, 2 individual packs - Total Estimated Value $2

Oh my gosh, the name of these wipes! Too funny. I couldn't find any individually wrapped wipes for sale, but they do sell travel packs of 10 for $5. I estimated the value based on the cost of the Maternity Kit they offer which includes these. They are fragrance, paraben, and glycerin free and help you maintain a healthy PH down there.

Shady Creek Farm Face Scrubbies, 4 count - Retail Value $4

I recently discovered reusable cotton rounds for my face and love them so I was happy to see these in the box. I love the green color, although I never would have thought of crocheted rounds being good for your face. They definitely aren't as soft, but that means they are great for providing a gentle exfoliation. These are well made and a great eco-friendly product!

You Love Veggies Fruit Leather - Retail Value $1.50 (Buy a pack of 12 for $31.56 here)

These little fruit leather rounds were surprisingly yummy and I love how you could just pop one out of the pack to eat. This flavor has spinach and kale in it which are masked well by the fruit flavors of pineapple, kiwi, mango, and banana. I even got my picky 2-year-old to try some. This might be a new way to sneak some vegetables into his system!

Marama Naturals Lavender Shortbread Cookie Scrub - Retail Value $14.99

This scrub smells just like lavender and is a fine scrub with smaller sugar particles. It has just the right amount of oil to it to leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized afterward and the lavender scent lingers just enough. I think it will make a perfect nighttime scrub to relax me! I love that this is natural and free of all the stuff you don't want.

Marama Naturals Leave in Detangler Spray - Retail Value $9.99

Another product from Marama Naturals! I don't necessarily need a detangler for my hair, but my 4-year-old has a full head of curls so I was happy to have something like this to help me tame it! I love that it's a natural product that I can feel good about using on her hair and this really helps make her curls feel softer after her bath. It also smells nice and subtle too.

Sitti Olive Oil Soap in Loofah - Retail Value $5.39

This small bar of soap is very basic, has a faint olive oil scent, and is made with loofah plant which helps provide some natural exfoliation. The story behind this simple bar is pretty cool as it is handmade by refugee women in Jordan. From Sitti:

Sitti Soap bars are all-natural olive oil soap bars. Each bar is handmade using the traditional cold-press "Nabulsi" method, passed down from generation-to-generation of Palestinian women. We source our olive oil from local farms in Jerash, Jordan.

Derma-E Advanced Peptides & Collagen Serum (0.5 oz) - Estimated Value $9.13 (buy the full-size version (2 oz) for $36.50)

This collagen formula is vegan and cruelty-free as well as paraben, sulfate, and gluten-free, to name a few. This is supposed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to make your skin look younger. The scent reminds me a bit of after sun lotion, although not as strong and it does feel a bit thick on my skin, so I'll probably stick to using this at night.

Bug Protector All Natural Mosquito Repellent - Retail Value $3.49

Bug Protector All Natural Tick Repellent - Retail Value $3.99

I have seen this brand before, but never actually tried it. These are DEET-free, non-toxic and made with all natural ingredients which means I can feel good about using it on my family. We have been getting eaten up by bugs in our yard since there has been so much moisture, so these will definitely come in handy! I love that this 2-ounce size is perfect to throw into a diaper bag or into a backpack if we decide to take a hike. Plus, since they are made with essential oils, they smell much better than the traditional stuff, too!

Pure Lano Pure & Glam Cosmetics Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Brown - Retail Value $15 (found here for $6)

I am almost out of the bronze eyeliner I have been using all summer, so this was a great item to receive! The color is great and it glides on very smooth and is easy to blend. I'm not crazy about the waterproof part since I hate having to scrub it off in the evenings, but the trade-off is the great staying power. I love that this is from a natural-based cosmetic company and even has aloe in it, which has to be good, right?

Itzy Ritzy Snack Happens Reusable Snack Bags (set of 2) - Retail Value $12.99

The reusable snack bags that I have for my kids are not in great shape since they are handwash only, which only takes out so much of the many stains, so I was excited to see these! They are a perfect size for the goldfish or raisins that we like to take on the go and the design is pretty gender neutral. My favorite part though is that these are machine washable! The next test will be whether they keep products fresh! Which is unlikely, but I'll remain hopeful until proven otherwise!

Rockflower Paper Company Blu Bag Reusable Shopping Bag in Cactus Green - Retail Value $9.95

I love that this bag folds up into its own little pouch and I love the fun cactus design and bright green color. A portion of the purchase of this bag goes towards Ocean Conservancy and the tag included some facts I didn't know about plastic bags such as one bag can take 1000 years to disintegrate. That's crazy and a good reason to use bags like these! The bag itself is a decent size at 19 X 24 inches and can hold up to 50 lbs.

The pouch has a little carabiner clip so you can attach it wherever you might need to, which is incredibly convenient. This also features an elastic strap at the top of the bag that you can use to wrap around the bag if you just want to fold it up.

Verdict: This Ecocentric Mom Mystery Bonus box was packed full of so many great items! I was introduced to a lot of new brands and they included so many useful items that were natural and eco-friendly, which is awesome. I estimate the total value to be around $173.04 which is much higher than their promised value of over $100. This was a great mix and definitely an incredible value for the $48.99 cost of the box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Received my box and it was terrific. A couple minor differences from this box no scrub, only 1 wipe, and no oil pods instead a large bottle of room spray which I was just as happy with. Hooray Ecocentric mom! You restored my faith in mystery boxes. I will be watching for your next one.

This looks like a great box. I am picky about veggies, so I will have to try the Veggies Fruit Leather. The snack bags are cute, and I love that they are washable.

This looks like a great box! I’m definitely debating on buying one for Christmas stocking stuffers, and I adore the Mavibandz! I got a few in sub boxes last year and I have ordered probably another 10 since then for myself and my two daughters. I have a lot of fine hair and my youngest daughter has the same while my oldest daughter has extremely thick curly hair and the mavi bands work for everyone of us.

With the $8.99 I broke down. I hope this isn’t one of those times when a company sends a great box to a reviewer and significantly less to everyone else.

Sally

Since this is a mystery box, I am guessing each box will vary?

Brandi D.

We reached out to Ecocentric Mom and they let us know that boxes will vary, but will likely include many of the same products. All include the same number of products and generally the same types /value.

Hope that helps! 🙂

Hi Sally! I believe so, but let me see if I can reach out to them and verify for you! 🙂

I’m not a mom but I find this to be a very well curated bag packed with lots of useful things! I think I have to grab one for myself 🙂

It’s definitely not too mom-specific! 🙂

I have to use waterproof mascara and eyeliner. The Simple brand makeup remover wipes are amazing at removing waterproof formulas. Oil cleansers work well too.

Jennifer

Too many products with lavender for me (allergic) but I like the other inclusions. Re-usable snack bags are always handy!
