The Ms. Collection Premium Once a Month Plan September 2018 Review
This month, my stylist sent some items to get me through the last few days of summer. She included a dress, skirt, and two tops. She suggested one of the tops and the skirt as an outfit.
The info card includes some instructions for the pack, a handwritten note from my stylist, and the retail value and member price.
Let’s start with the suggested outfit.
Tyche Sleeveless Top in Grey Floral – Retail Price $34.50, Member Price $27.60
I love this floral pattern! Its abstract line drawings are filled in with bold chunks of coral, beige, and grey in a watercolor aesthetic. The fabric is a polyester chiffon that is flowy and semi-sheer but my nude bra doesn’t really show through. I like that the neckline isn’t too low and that the armholes cover my armpit area. It looks really nice tucked into the skirt, which is how my stylist suggested wearing it, and also looks nice untucked and flowy.
FRNCH Lace Skirt in Black – Retail Price $86.80, Member Price $78.12
I have to say, this is the piece that has shocked me most of all of the pieces I’ve received from my stylist. I didn’t think I’d like the volume of this lace-overlay, midi length skirt…but I LOVE it. It has such a flirty vibe. The viscose/elastane black lace is a little scratchy but since it is fully lined with a viscose slip, I can’t feel it. The waist is a tad tight on me, but the button and clasp reinforcements keep it secure. I love it with the Tyche top and think this leather belt gives a little edge to the otherwise feminine look.
Sanctuary Misha Eyelet Embroidered Off-the-Shoulder Top in Mozambique – Retail Price $79, Member Price $63.20
This soft and silky top is supposed to be off the shoulder but on me, it works better as a boatneck style top. The sleeves just won’t stay off of my shoulders. The embroidered cutouts feel sturdy and give the shirt some structure. I think it looks cute with jeans or shorts for hot days. The only bad thing is that the rayon fabric wrinkles easily.
Gentle Fawn Marsha Twist Front Dress in Thyme – Retail Price $84, Member Price $75.60
This dress is sooooo soft, it feels like butta! It’s 69% modal and 31% polyester is fairly thick and stretchy. I think the fabric twist is placed perfectly to help accent my waist and play down my midsection. I also love the way the neckline and arms are cut. They are thick enough to hide my bra strap and hide a bit more skin on my top half. Although I like the cut of this dress, I think it is just a bit too tight for me. I could probably use a size up to give a little more room in the hip area.
Each pack includes a pre-paid return envelope. When you are done with your pieces, just pop them in here and drop it off at the post office. The Ms. Collection will process your return and you’ll be ready to go for your next pack. (If you are purchasing anything, just leave them out of your return package.)
A note about cleaning: You don’t have to clean the pieces before sending them back. The Ms. Collection has everything cleaned once the pieces are returned. I didn’t notice any smell (including fragranced detergent which is good for those with sensitive skin), stains, or signs of wear. Actually, everything was in perfect condition!
The Verdict: The past two months with The Ms. Collection have been skirt-centric and have helped me learn to style and actually like skirts. Without the help of my stylist, I probably wouldn’t have had as much success. Everything is well-made, clean, and in great condition. You wouldn’t be able to tell these are rental items by looking at them. And, I don’t have to worry about getting tired of anything. The total retail value of this pack was $284.30 and for a price of $69 with free shipping, I think it’s a good deal for me.

Value Breakdown: Since this is a clothing rental service, the value really comes from being able to change up and try new looks every month. I also get a chance to wear high-quality brands that I wouldn’t be able to spend this kind of money on often. There is always the option to buy an item for a discounted price if you love it. Basically here is what I paid to rent each item for the month (based on retail price):
- Tyche Top – $8.37
- FRNCH Skirt – $21.07
- Sanctuary Top – $19.17
- Gentle Fawn Dress – $20.39
