New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Review – September 2018
New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a digital subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great.
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: New Beauty Test Tube
The Cost: $29.95 a box plus $8.95 shipping (ships every other month)
The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products. (This subscription also includes a subscription to New Beauty Magazine).
Ships to: US only
Each box comes with a booklet that details every item included.
Now, on to the items!
Lumineux Whitening Strips – 3 Treatments Value $8.14
These white strips are similar to others I’ve tried – easy enough to use, and you leave them on for 30 minutes.
Lumineux Medically Developed Toothpaste – .8 oz Value $2.13
One thing that I like about both the toothpaste and the mouthwash is the ingredients. Lots of natural items designed to help prevent sensitivity that can happen with whitening products.
Lumineux Whitening Mouth Wash – 2 oz Value $1.50
This mouthwash was minty and refreshing – I like having an entire whitening set!
Copper + Crane Charcoal Body Polish – FULL SIZE! Value $25
(Subscribers will either receive this OR Melting Body Souffle OR Jojoba Body Buff)
I was expecting a body scrub type formula, but this is more of a gel consistency with bamboo charcoal particles to help provide a gentle exfoliation. I found it gentle enough to use everyday, and I recommend this if you are looking for a gentle exfoliant that doesn’t provide moisture.
KenGenDo Cleansing Spa Water Cloths – FULL SIZE Retail Value $17
These makeup wipes are oil-free & alcohol-free and were gentle on my skin. (One thing to call out for those who avoid parabens – these are formulated with parabens.)
YU-BE Moisturizing Skin Cream – FULL SIZE! Value $16
This is a cult-classic beauty item that is a like a cream/ointment hybrid. It’s super moisturizing and concentrated (a little goes a long way), and you can use it for everything – hands, face, cuticles, body, etc. (Again, one thing to call out for those who avoid parabens – these are formulated with parabens.)
Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Masks (3) – Value $12.50
I’ve sampled these before and they are great! They are super gentle and soothing, plus they are ingredient-conscious! (Paraben-free, Phthalate-free, Synthetic fragrance-free, and cruelty-free!)
They come in a plastic disc to help keep things as non-messy as possible:
And they are gold! I put them on for 10 minutes, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well they stayed in place. The formula has a faint (natural) lavender scent and is designed to help with hydration and diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Purlisse Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $45
Hands down, this is one of my favorite items in the box! First, it smells like watermelon! Second, the formula feels so good on my skin. It’s a lightweight gel/cream hybrid (think Laneige or Belif Aqua Bomb), provides lots of moisture, and absorbs almost instantly.
Ovation Cell Therapy Hair Treatment – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $56.95
This formula is designed to be used post-shampoo. You use a quarter-sized amount, massage it into your scalp and comb through to the ends of your hair, let sit for 3-5 minutes, then rinse and follow with conditioner.
(Good to know: the formula is free from parabens, sulfates, and gluten. And it is safe for colored hair.)
This is designed to help hair appear healthier, fuller, etc. In one use, I couldn’t notice a difference, but you can use it 2-3 times a week, and since I have a full-size bottle, maybe I’ll notice results in a few weeks!
Grande Cosmetics Grandestay Put Lip Liner – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $15
This lip liner goes one clear and is designed to help prevent bleeding and smudging outside the lipline. For the most part, I wear liquid lipstick, which doesn’t bleed, but this is good to have for the times I’m wearing just regular lipstick.
Battington Lash Curler – Value $16
This wasn’t a super exciting item for me since I already have an eyelash curler and a spare, but I’m sure it will be a welcome addition for most subscribers!
Verdict: This box has a value of about $215.22. That’s a great value compared to the $38.90 cost – and I think one of the highest values they’ve had in a while! So many full-size items in this box, too!
