Tutiibag August 2018 Review

About Miss Tutii TutiiBag

The Subscription Box: Miss Tutii TutiiBag

The Cost: $16.95/month + free US shipping. Save with 6 and 12-month prepaid subscriptions.

Good to know: Charges for TutiiBag recently started coming from Ontario, so you may also get a foreign transaction fee (mine is 40 cents but that depends on the bank) if you are in the US. For what it’s worth, though new subscriptions cost $16.95, I’ve been a subscriber for a while and am still getting charged $15 per month.

The Products: 4-5 full-size or deluxe samples of popular skincare products, masks, and other beauty items from Asia!

Ships to: U.S. (free), Canada ($5.95), International ($10.95)

Tutiibag August 2018 Review

You usually get a pretty good mix of different skin care items and tools and sometimes a makeup item with this subscription.  One sheet mask is also typically included:

The bag came with this information card. It didn’t actually have any product details although I didn’t need them this month.

Etude House Dear Darling Water Gel Tint (RD302)

Etude House Dear Darling Water Gel Tint (RD302) – Retail Value $5

This is a product I’m already familiar with because I have a couple of them in my stash. If you have used the Tonymoly Tony Tints, it is very similar, but it takes a bit longer to dry, in my experience. I like lip tints like this right now because I have Invisalign and I can wear these for some lip color without getting lipstick or something all over my cheek when I take my aligners out during the day. I would suggest a balm or gloss over the top, though, as these are rather drying.

Here is a swatch. (Note to self: don’t ever swatch this product again. I couldn’t get it off, even with scrubbing, and exercising with it on made it look like I had blood all over my wrist.)

Etude House AC Clean Up Toner (0.16 oz) –

Etude House AC Clean Up Toner (0.16 oz) – Estimated Value $0.45 (buy 6.76 fl oz for $19)

This is the oily/acne version of Tutiibag so this product is definitely appropriate. This toner does have alcohol, which I personally don’t mind (and sometimes seek out in toners) as well as salicylic acid and tea tree oil for controlling breakouts as well as papaya extract (has some exfoliating enzymes) and garlic and onion extracts, which would be a natural source of sulfur, which also might clean up the skin. I used this whole bottle up already. I am a fan.

Etude House AC Clean Up Gel Lotion (0.16 oz) – Estimated Value $0.45 (buy 6.76 fl oz for $19)

This is a very lightweight moisturizer with actually similar ingredients to the toner above, though it is a bit thicker in texture and contains a few silicones. Some silicone products work with my skin and some don’t, but this seems to be one of the good ones (for me, at least). I find this to be just the right weight/viscosity for morning use and it does not interfere with makeup application. It is hard to get out of this bottle, though.

KKOTMINAM Everyday Suncream (70g)

KKOTMINAM Everyday Suncream (70g) – Retail Value $9.26 (found here for $2.31)

Thankfully, “suncream” is kind of an odd word and this allowed me to find this product online using Google image search, even without knowing the brand name. You’ll get sunscreens from time to time in Tutiibag but it saves me from having to buy them so that is fine by me. I cannot figure out whether this is mineral or chemical or a combination of both, so I am using it on my arms as I am sometimes sensitive to chemical sunscreens. It doesn’t leave a whitish cast to my skin, but I am very pale and I don’t know if this would be true for someone with darker skin.

Missha Airy Fit Sheet Mask – Pomegranate – Retail Value $0.93 (found here for $0.65)

Here is this month’s sheet mask. This is a new one for me and another item I had to use Google image search to identify (there is very little English on this package!). Anyway, this has a very flexible sheet and of course, it is moisturizing. The pomegranate variety is supposed to help with skin elasticity but I think you need to use it more than once to see any effect there. I like using skincare with antioxidants, though, and pomegranate definitely has those, so I was happy to receive this.

Verdict: I calculated a total value of about $16.09 for the August 2018 TutiiBag. As usual, take the prices quoted above with a grain of salt. Prices vary widely for these items depending on whether you buy from a US-based seller or straight from Korea, and many of the items have vastly different prices on Amazon, eBay, etc. In general, I am pretty sure I’ve used both sources with low prices and high shipping charges, and sources with high prices and free shipping, in the links above, plus many of these items are not available in the sample sizes received, so providing a total might not be all that accurate. At any rate, I would say this package had the number and type of products I would expect (one sheet mask, some varied skincare products, and the like). I am a fan of the lip tint so am happy to have another, and the sunscreen will be useful (it stays hot and sunny here for a long time!), although I do wish the AC Clean Up samples had been a little larger.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first shipment would be September's. Also, please note that this is the “oily/acne” combo (selected at sign-up) and if you choose a different skin type, some of your items may vary.

Value Breakdown: At $16.95 for this subscription, you’re paying approximately the following:

  • Lip tint $5.27
  • Toner $0.47
  • Lotion $0.47
  • Sunscreen $9.75
  • Mask $0.98

Alternatively, you’re paying about $3.39 per item.
