Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson. You can shop Fabletics in two ways—you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $19.00 for new members. (I'm not sure if "new members" refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you'd get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you'll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

The key takeaway here is that this subscription won't automatically send you monthly packages like other services do. You have to hop into your account and either decide to add items to your card or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call into Fabletics customer service to do it.

Zuma Studio Sneakers, Size 8 - Retail Value $79.95, Member Price $59.95

That's right, folks! Shoes! Did you know Fabletics offers shoes? I've kept my eye on their shoe offerings for a while—they had a few styles that I noticed at the beginning of the summer, and they just launched a few newer styles relatively recently. As far as I can tell, they don't launch new shoe styles as often as they launch new clothing styles, so they tend to sell out/run low in certain sizes more quickly. The styles they create are super cute though—there are sandals, sock-type styles for dance/barre classes, cool fashion-forward styles, and classic athletic styles like the sneakers I got. I've been so curious about trying their shoes, and though there were some really awesome outfits on the table for this month (they've been offering leggings and fall-ready tops in these really cool muted pastels like dusty rose and smoky purple—all very much my style), I just had to take my chance to try some of these new footwear styles before they sold out!

Lucky for me, these shoes captured a bit of that current color palette that I love. These sneakers have thick stretch fabric uppers that hug my feet but also allow them some freedom of movement within the shoes. They're not restrictive. But for that reason, I don't feel like they're quite right for runs (they move around on my feet a bit more because of the stretch fabric, which seems rife for blisters), nor really active stuff that I'd want a lot of support for. But they are great for going on walks, wearing to the gym (for things like squats, lunges, using machines, etc.), and of course, showing off at brunch with friends, haha!

Plus, let's be real—these are SUPER cute. I'm really leaning into my 31-year-old millennial-ness with these blush pink and lilac beauties. They're light as a feather and so simple to just slip my feet into, even with the elasticized laces tied. The fit is pretty solid, too. My feet are size 8, and the tips of my toes hit riiiiight at the ends of that pale pink lip on the front of the toe area.

The Verdict: I don't think I'd call these "performance" sneakers, but my first pair of Fabletics shoes will do the trick when I pop over to the gym (or to a casual hangout with my pals). And aesthetically, they're just so cool! All of my Fabletics apparel has worn and washed SO well that I've got high expectations for these shoes. I'm hoping that if I don't wear them on runs/hikes that they'll hold up pretty well over time. Would I buy another pair of shoes from Fabletics? Maybe for style purposes, sure. But if it's between an outfit and another set of sneakers, I think I'd choose to spend my monthly investment on new apparel. It's just such reliably great stuff!

I was going to ask about how supportive they were but you basically answered that question with what you said about running. (I don’t run, but I do pretty intense cardio, and I have plantar fasciitis, and strong foot support is essential.)

I am struggling to find a good pair of athletic shoes. I am one of those people who can just order a size 7 and have it fit, but I like to try on athletic shoes and jump around a bit and see how they feel on my feet, and the sporting goods stores are all running and “lifestyle” shoes these days, and neither one of those is exactly what I need.

Check out Brooks athletic shoes. Extremely supportive!

I’ve purchased a handful of footwear from Fabletics…..I find that they are not quite as supportive as they should be with regards to high intensity and vigorous workouts. They are great for just tooling around and/or running errands and of course, light workouts.

I feel the same way, Anita! Good to hear your take being that you have a few pairs from them. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

Everyone has their version of cute but these aren’t mine. They look very plastic.

Agree, theres something just goofy about the shape.. or lack of? It has sort of a clunky vibe that wouldn’t look toooo bad if the laces werent all so bunchy at the top. unfortunate, since its such a pretty color palette. but i would be too distracted looking down at the weird blooby shape.

I agree with you. They look like plastic and the laces bunched up at the top looks odd. But like you said, I’m sure they appeal to lots of people.

Same. These would completely turn me off on their shoes.. Yikes.
