This is a review of the $29.99 a month Box of Happies Full box.

Box of Happies August 2018 Review

If you like jewelry that’s generally delicate and handmade items from Etsy and similar artisans, Box of Happies delivers those things every month. The items are also usually packaged nicely for gifting if something isn’t to your taste:

You’ll usually get a little card with basic information about the items as well as a Box of Happies business card.

Plainly Simply Lip Balm – Listed Value $4.50

This item is not in the Plainly Simply Etsy shop, so I’ve taken the value from the information card. However, $4.50 seems perfectly reasonable for handmade lip balm. I think the container is cute, though maybe a bit difficult to open and close, and the balm has a rootbeer scent/flavor that’s just at about the right level (not too overpowering). I’ve put this on my nightstand because I don’t want to use a finger to apply lip balm when I’m out and about and may not have had a chance to wash my hands, but it is moisturizing for those times when I want lip balm in the middle of the night (it happens!).

Box of Happies Necklace

Box of Happies Necklace – Listed Value $15

I like this. It is a very simple oval rivoli in a goldtone setting and you can get an idea of the length on the necklace model. I could layer this with other necklaces or just wear it alone when I don’t want a bunch of elaborate jewelry. (You will get a lot of jewelry in this subscription and it may be any metal tone. I am not too picky about such things but everything is packaged for gifting if an item doesn’t work for you.)

Bella Kate Designs Headband – Retail Value $10

This is a little bit of a different design for a headband; instead of being a flat piece of fabric, it has interlocking fabric loops. I have a collection of headbands for keeping my hair out of my face when I exercise and this one will join that group. It does fit pretty well (although I have kind of a small head). I am pretty sure this Etsy seller’s items have appeared in Box of Happies before, as the name sounds familiar to me.

Box of Happies Bracelet

Box of Happies Bracelet – Listed Value $10

This is hair tie material with a goldtone oval centerpiece. I’ve put it on my wrist to give you a sense of the size. Please keep in mind that I have small wrists (5.25 inches in circumference) and although this is stretchy, it might not be super comfortable for people with 7+ inch wrists.

Box of Happies Earrings – Listed Value $10

These are cute. I don’t know if pineapples are still a trend (I am *so* not up on trends) but I am not really up on trends and I will wear them anyway. I don’t know what the posts are made of so I coated them with clear nail polish. These are lightweight, which is always a plus for earrings.

Box of Happies Hand Towel – Listed Value $9

This was listed as a bonus item for the month. I can honestly use all the hand towels I can get, though I have yet to decide if this is going to be a bathroom hand towel or a kitchen one. (I am not so concerned about color matching. I have some Easter towels out right now that I got on clearance at Target a few years ago…)

Verdict: I didn’t calculate a value for the August 2018 Box of Happies since I had to take almost every value from the information card. But, there were six items, so you are paying about $5 each, which I think is a pretty good deal, as most of the items had listed values well above that. This was not a super varied month, in that there was a lot of jewelry that was all gold-toned, although we have not received a hand towel before.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box would be September's. Sometimes past boxes or past box items go on sale in their shop, though.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 + free shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $5.

Try to cancel –just try! good luck! There is nowhere to cancel on “manage account”. You must contact them. When you click the contact button, it sends you to OUTLOOK. Who use OUTLOOK anymore?? Moreover, their email address is not listed anywhere on OUTLOOK nor anywhere on their site that I could find. I am not sure if I succeeded in unsubscribing or not. I have yet to r receive a confirmation email. I had to retrieve the plastic mailing bag from the the trash, check the address listed in the plastic wrap and physically mail them a letter today!

No, although they do occasionally have stationery items (usually blank cards and such).
