Each month, you'll receive 4-8 awesomely irreverent items handmade by artists and small businesses. The women behind Smartass & Sass might not take themselves too seriously, but they are serious about supporting the creatives behind the items in their box and paying a fair price for their quality goods. Smartass & Sass also offers a $15.95 Shirt-only Box and $49.95 Big Box.

This is a review of the $34.95 a month box.

Smartass & Sass July 2018 Review

Smartass & Sass comes with a booklet that has all the info you’ll ever need about them, and the items in the box. Each month has an overall theme and this time it’s “Boss Babe.”

Good Things Notebook

Good Things Notebook - Listed Value $10

I am a big fan of this notebook. Not only do I identify strongly with the quote in the front, I love the blue elastic band that keeps the notebook closed or marks your page. The lined pages make this a good option for taking notes or making lists, and I really appreciate the hardcover that makes this notebook sturdy.

Dark Pony Designs Slay White Gold Necklace, Retail Value $20

This 16k white gold necklace with a gold plated chain is certainly a step up from the jewelry that usually comes in subscription boxes! I wasn’t sure how I would feel about wearing a necklace that said “slay”- it’s a word I say, not necessarily something I wear! I was happy to see that the hand stamped letters wasn’t too strongly contrasted in the bar, so while it’s definitely legible it’s not in your face. I could wear this necklace anywhere and unless I was talking one on one with a person they wouldn’t know what it said. The length also makes it perfect for hiding under a higher necked blouse for a little boost of confidence whenever you need it!

Duo Badass Socks - Retail Value $14

I love these socks— they’re perfectly cheeky and the grips on the socks make them super functional. I am actually getting carpet in my apartment replaced with hardwood tomorrow and I will definitely be putting these bad boys to work in the coming months!

You Go Girl Canvas Pouch

You Go Girl Canvas Pouch - Listed Value $12

If a subscription box is going to include a makeup bag or pouch like this it needs to impress me, and I was not impressed with this. The canvas itself is pretty thin and overall the quality doesn’t seem like a $12 bag. Considering how many makeup bags women get, whether from subscription boxes or gifts with purchase I am unfortunately starting to see lesser quality bags like these as box fuller. The quote is cute though.

The GCG Studio Motivational Sign – Listed  Value $9.95

I think this sign is really cute! I am not currently in a position at work where I feel comfortable displaying this, so it’s chilling out with me at home reminding me of how great it will be when I take (and pass!) the bar exam next year. The GCG Studio’s shop is currently on vacation, so I couldn’t find the exact item to link to.

Boss Babe Decal - Listed Value $2.50

I love the simple style of this decal! The fall semester is starting in a few weeks and I have already decided that this will be going on one of my notebooks as a motivational reminder to that keeping my nose to the grind will pay off very, very soon.

The Verdict: I really liked the theme this month! I thought the items were a good mix of functional and fun, and other than the pouch all of the items are going to be put to use! I consider that a big win and this is one of my favorite themes I have seen from Smartass and Sass!

This month's total estimated value is $68.45 which is more than $20 higher than the $41.90 cost of the box ($34.95 a month plus $6.95 shipping).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the August box. From Smartass & Sass:

Your shirt and/or box will ship on the 16th-18th of every month. Please order by the 15th to get the current shipment.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.95 + $6.95 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $6.98.

I wanted to say that the customer service on this box is excellent!! I had a few issues and they sent me a label to return the box for a full refund.

With that said, I don’t see the value in this box but I’m a person that shops at Target and Marshalls/TJ Maxx often. Perhaps if someone didn’t have those shops and liked this sense of humor it would be a fun subscription?
