Dispatch Kids: Coin Quest by Breakout Games #3 – Final Installment Review
This is the third and final box for the Coin Quest series. While the quest is continuous, I was happy to find out that we didn’t need anything from our previous boxes other than the background knowledge of what we are searching for and why. I wasn’t sure how many boxes we would be receiving, but this turned out to be our last box.
This is the booklet that is included for the adult who is assisting in the mystery. I highly recommend you read through it beforehand so that you can get prepared. Also, just a note, you will need access to a phone, tablet or computer to complete some of the activities!
I love that they highlight various skills that you can work on with your child. I specifically love the one about writing simple notes to your child. My daughter can’t read yet, but I’m sure if she sees “I love you” or “good morning” on a piece of paper frequently, she will start to recognize the words!
We received a checklist to make sure that we had everything in our box. My daughter and I went through this together and then we read our note from Johnny.
We received a very official Safari Pass for our visit to the zoo. She could write her name on the front and I could scan the code on the back to get us started!
We also received this set of stickers and these animal parts that we would need for our adventure.
This is our zoo map that we needed to reference during the next part.
This is the welcome screen we opened up to. We got to complete puzzles to help us gain access to our Zoo Safari route.
We completed several different screens like these in which we did simple activities such as matching, counting and even identifying animal sounds.
After completing each activity, we were taken to a video and information about various animals. My kids loved these!
As we completed our puzzles, we were able to mark our map with our stickers for our zoo route. It was also a great refresher on colors, numbers, and shapes!
One screen asked us to use the animal cutouts to find out which animal was the tallest of these three.
I cut them out and then we assembled them together using the little slits on each animal. Then we figured out which was tallest.
Once we had our route stops marked, we were able to use the little animal footprint stickers to map out our route.
So I’m still not quite sure how they want us to use these flashcards and matching silhouettes together, but I had my daughter mark each animal card with it’s matching shape & number sticker and then she matched them up to their silhouettes.
We went through all of the cards together and there is actually quite a bit of information on them. This time, they had us doing actual motions like the animals would do, so it was a great physical activity. I always love the questions that they have because I feel like it’s so much fun to hear my daughter’s answers and learn how she thinks! It’s always a great conversation starter!
Once we solved the puzzle of where to meet Mr. Wallace at the Zoo, we went to a website and we had to search inside his truck to find the coin.
Yay! She found the coin and Johnny was so happy that he asked for our address so that he could send us a special prize! Now we have one last thing to look forward to, which was a great way to end our quest!
Verdict: Now that we have completed an entire series for Dispatch Kids I can say that it was a great experience, overall. I think that since this was just a three box total experience, it was totally worth the cost of $24.99 + free shipping for each month. This would be such a fun and educational gift for a child! I think that if it had gone on any longer, my daughter might have begun to lose interest, but this was just enough to keep her looking forward to her adventures. I love how engaged she was and that even though it was a unique and fun experience, they also had just the right amount of educational material to make it a well-rounded experience. While I never could quite figure out how to make those flashcards work for us, it didn’t affect our experience at all. I had a lot of fun bonding with my daughter and loved some of the conversations we would have while we completed the activities. I’m just as excited as she is to see what her prize will be when it arrives!
