Cat Lady Box July 2018 Review

Cat Lady Box is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for August:

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box.

Catnip Fluff Puff

Catnip Fluff Puff – Listed Value $3.99

I think this toy may be shaped like a cat head (?) under all that fluffiness, but I didn’t even notice that until later on. My cats don’t care about the particular shape, though, they just like the texture of the “hair.” Angus, especially, batted this around quite a lot.

Ross the Sloth Catnip Toy – Listed Value $4.99

I think this little guy is pretty cute. My older boys (especially Monkey and Madison) thought this was pretty awesome for rubbing their heads and chins on. (That’s mostly what those two do with toys. But they are 12 or 13 and 11 now, respectively, and not as spry as they once were.)

Kitty Cat Planter

Kitty Cat Planter – Listed Value $11.99

I’m showing you this in my hand, over the rug, because it would look like a white blob on my regular background. It also gives you some size context. This doesn’t have holes in the bottom so if you use it as a planter, be sure to put some rocks in the bottom so you don’t drown your plant’s roots. I am going to start some cat grass in this over the weekend, I think.

“On Caturdays…” Shirt

“On Caturdays…” Shirt – Listed Value $19.99

Haha, this saying is so true. (I wear cat shirts, either from Cat Lady Box or the now-defunct LOLMart, all weekend long). This seems to be about the same quality as their other shirts, which I tend to have good luck with – all of those are still in pretty good shape, including the graphics, after repeated washings.

Meow Throw Pillow Covers

Meow Throw Pillow Covers – Listed Value $24.99

This was a spoiler item for the month. You don’t see them on pillows because I don’t have the right size of pillow forms yet, but you can be sure I’m going to order some. As it happens, we need new throw pillows for our sofa because we were using these ancient ones my husband had, and those are getting holes, so it is time for a change. These also seem to be well-made.

Drawstring Bag

This item was supposed to go in last month’s box, but due to a packaging error, it wasn’t in there. So they sent it along this month. I included its value last month so I won’t add it again, but if this was your first box, you would still receive the bag here, and you can think of it as a bonus item. Anyway, this is a good size for travel (for example, for packing a nice pair of shoes so they don’t get scuffed).

Here are some cat pictures for you:

I threw the puff towards Angus and above you see some action shots.

Angus meets the sloth.

Madison sniffs the sloth. Then he rubbed his head on it. (Madison really does have a face, I promise. It just didn’t show up much in this picture.)

Monkey thought these were worth a sniff in addition to a chin rub.

I caught Sneaky right as she was getting ready to sneeze.

Mr. Kitty was sleeping (I finally took the e-collar off) so I gave him a friend to snuggle with.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $65.95 for the August 2018 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box (not counting the drawstring bag, which was included in last month’s value). That’s a decent value for the price, especially for a lot of exclusive merchandise you can’t get elsewhere. I’ll use everything, and the neutral colors of the items mean they will work with a lot of different décor schemes.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Orders have to be placed by the 22nd of the previous month. So if you sign up today, you'll receive the September box.

Value Breakdown: At a price of $39.99 for this box, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Fluff puff toy $2.42
  • Sloth toy $3.03
  • Planter $7.27
  • Shirt $12.12
  • Pillow covers $15.15

I’ve seen a couple of boxes try that, but none of them really took off. Not sure what was missing, to be honest.

I have heard people comment that when buying dog themed items they want to buy items with their particular breed on it. I know that is true of myself. I will buy cat items with any kind of cat on it, but for dog items I do tend to buy items featuring my breed. Maybe that is why it is hard to get a dog version of the cat lady box to take off.
