Art Snacks July 2018 Review

This is the information card that came in the package. It lists each item in the box with suggestions on how to use them. My husband is an artist, and he was completely excited to play with all these new toys! Some candy and the trademark Art Snacks sticker were also included.

Grumbacher Watercolor Paper Sample Pad

BONUS ITEM: Grumbacher Watercolor Paper Sample Pad

My husband has received this same sample pad of watercolor paper from Art Snacks before. It's nice paper, though, so I guess it's OK for a bonus item. It definitely allows one to sample the paper, and it is apparently really good paper for watercoloring. It has just the right amount of absorptiveness such that the water doesn't run or bleed or soak the paper. It's good stuff!

Marabu Graphix Aqua Ink

Marabu Graphix Aqua Ink - Retail Value $3.99

This is a watercolor ink, and it's described as "Ultra-brilliant". I can see why! It has a really vibrant pigmentation. My husband enjoyed working with it. It also is really cool because even after it is completely dry, you can reactivate it with water. How cool is that?

Museum Emerald Artist Brush by Weber - Retail Value $7.99

My husband really loves this type of brush because the handle has ergonomic indentations so that it works better with the natural shape of your hand. It really helps with painting for a long duration! It also is really high quality and sturdy, with durable Taklon bristles.

Copic Drawing Pen F02 - Retail Value $4.60

We have quite a few Copic pens in our home by now, and they are really high quality. They are great for drawing and inking because they have a great flow and a sturdy stainless steel tip. They tend to be water resistant, but not completely waterproof, so if you need to slightly soften your lines in a watercolor application, you totally can!

Molotow ONE4ALL Acrylic Twin Marker - Retail Value $7.75

This is a really cool acrylic paint marker! It has two tips, so it's pretty versatile, and the paints are very opaque and permanent. You can also use them on almost any surface. But the thing that's exceptional about them is that they are refillable, and you can mix the colors if you want to get a custom shade! Awesome!

Art Snacks is not a project box like we sometimes review with instructions and everything, but my husband always likes to do a sample work to show what can be done with the materials provided. This was a quick one, but it sure is cute! I think it also is pretty representative of the materials included. This also qualifies as an #artsnackschallenge, which is Art Snacks' monthly challenge to create something using only the materials provided plus paper.

Verdict: Art Snacks is always so much fun! We get to try new fine arts/drawing supplies and tools, and I think my husband really enjoys the Art Snacks Challenge! This month's value comes to $24.33, which is a tiny bit higher than the $24 cost of the box, including free shipping. That's actually pretty good for a fine arts subscription box, so we are happy!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the September box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $24 + free shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $4.80.

I recently subscribed to their LetteringSnacks subscription that filled with lettering supplies. The Summer box is set to arrive shortly and I’m not so patiently awaiting its arrival!
