I returned mine today.

I only have a Sephora inside JCP and making a return there is a NIGHTMARE! I returned the new Natasha Denona mini palette bc it’s patchy as hell and the girl at the counter told me 18 ways how it was all my fault – from the primer I used, to my technique, even blamed my Sigma brushes lol. Took me 30 mins to return the damned thing. I guess I’m keeping the $25 box just so I don’t have to go through that hassle again.

When anyone gets their box, can you kindly share the details of the contents on this thread, or with Liz? It would be appreciated!
Like others, I’m not impressed by the $44 value. Maybe full spoilers will change my mind.

Search on Instagram with #sephoraplay and select recent. Someone just posted a pic of superfood box!

It looks like the tarte Mermaid Serum, Origins mushroom toner, First Aid Coconut moisturizer, Dr. Rosebuck No Worries moisturizer, and as advertised Youth to the People facial oil and Ilia face powder.

It’s a hard no for me. I get sephora play monthly. I got the luxe play recently. Half of the sizes were ridiculously small. I’m not even sure that I’d call it sample size. It’s more like single use. Also, the YSL lip product claims to be a lip stain, but it never dries. It is a mess. It smears all over the place, even hours later. I learned a valuable lesson. Unless I see the full spoilers from now on, I’m not falling for it.

This is the first special edition box I’m passing on. I already have most of the likely products in this box and I just purchased past play! boxes.

The bag is kinda cute, but this is a huge nope feom me. They got me with the glitter eyes box (which at least had a high retail value thanks to the lash serum and a usable value as well bc I’m using all but 1 or 2 of the items from it) AND they got me with the $26 luxe box which I’m so upset by I haven’t even opened yet bc I know what’s in it, I know how small the samples are, I know that lipstick is red and I’ll never wear it and I’m debating on returning it. They won’t get me again unless I can see the products beforehand and I know I’ll used most of them and they’re things I’ve wanted for a while i.e. Tatcha silk primer, Laura mercier or other high end loose powder, high end skin care that weighs in at more than 1ml, etc. I’m a little salty over these special bags if y’all can’t tell lol.

Has anyone received something extra from Sephora for their birthday? I’m ready to cancel but my bday is in August and I’m trying to decide if I should wait. What do y’all think? I’m getting way overloaded on stuff and my husband is starting to wonder why I’m getting boxes constantly. Lol.

Yes, I had a birthday within the past 30 days, and had a selection of Insider Beauty Birthday packaged items on Sephora.com to choose from when I ordered the Luxe Play pink tie bag ( I don’t know the whole Sephora name for it). Most of the free birthday gifts were small bundles of 1 or 2 tiny sample products.
I chose the Bite Beauty lip gloss and lip gloss pencil. Size of 1 item is very good, 2nd one is smaller..My first Bite samples that weren’t red lipsticks. 😉

I wish I could recall what the other Birthday offerings were, but they were so mundane for a Sephora Play! insider that I really don’t recall. Things we’ve mostly gotten from the boxes is what I decided they were giving for birthdays now.
It was my opinion that the Bite lip glosses in 2 reasonable wearable colors were the best. They were sample sized, but boxed in a Birthday black and white striped box made for the 2 products and Happy Birthday across the front. Nice enough to very casually leave on a co-worker’s desk on her birthday, I’d think.

I also ordered this Superfood box and the Luxe box and may be the only Sephora Play subscriber who likes and is using the products, LOL. Meaning: I’m probably too easy to please. 😉

Just the regular beauty insider gift that I picked up in store.

I really love the idea of a skincare box, but I recently had a reaction to a tarte face product and I know I’m allergic to something in FAB, so I’m gonna wait for the next one.

I think the concept and the special edition boxes are good but it appears the value is just not there like it used to be with special editions. The special additions they put out last year, the big fiasco, now those boxes were worth the price Due to the luxury items in them but the ones that have come out recently have been disappointing from the general consensus. One would think the purchase power Sephora could be greater. Just my opinion

I got one but I really wish Tarte would stop making trial sized so sub boxes will stop adding them 🙂 Soooo sick of tarte

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

Never been a fan of Tarte myself

Cookie

I would get it as I love skincare but I’m overloaded on skincare products right now. The bag looks cute though.

Not to changes the subject, but when looking at the different Play! boxes they have for sale, it really lays out how many of their items are repeat products. Whether it’s the Marc Jacobs mascara or the Caudaline Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. It was kind of disappointing.

And also how much difference there is in values of the varying iterations of the same month’s boxes. Some are valued at $50, while others are listed as $22. I’ve been getting the low-end boxes for a few months now, and these just proved what I was calculating.

AnnieJ

Wow! That’s so true. The lack of consistency is really annoying.

Allison

Hard pass. The QVC TILI box is so much better!

Reply ButtonReply

Jamie

What’s a Tili box? I know what QVC is lol 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

QVC puts out a beauty box every once in a while called TILI: Try It Love It, and they recently released a new box. Here’s MSA’s post announcing the box 🙂 :

I bought one, because I always do….but I’m not sure the value is there…and why is tarte mixed in….eh

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

The Ilia is the only product that somewhat interests me but I agree with the others that the value is not there.

Reply ButtonReply

Betty

These last special boxes have been big disappointments.

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

I like the bag, but how many Sephora bags does a girl need?

Reply ButtonReply

pam

bet you it’s that tarte knockout tingling treatment. I would love to try that but $20 for only one product that I want won’t do it for me

Reply ButtonReply

Jay

Got it. Im interested in clean skincare items. I don’t sub sephora so this is okay for me. YttP oil. I hope its a origins mushroom product. Ilia is cool. Hopr for dr roebucks 2 in 1 mask scrub… Squeeeeeel

Reply ButtonReply

jenn

the value is not there

Reply ButtonReply

Lillian

This is so tempting! I wish the price was lower though. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Dana

I ordered one, but I’m a little disappointed in the list. I expected something more. And Tarte, in a Superfoods bag? I do not see the correlation at all.

Reply ButtonReply

Erika

I don’t know why they priced these so high! Even their own Sephora play is only ten dollars for 5 deluxe samples plus bonus sample. Who wants to pay 20 bucks for this? If they’d priced it like Play I would have snapped it up immediately!

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

I am only interested in the Youth to the People item. No FOMO here. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

They want $20 for a $44 value mystery bag?? That’s the worst I’ve seen yet. Ipsy has better values than that for half the price.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I’m wondering if they included the value of the makeup bag too. I was expecting a higher value, but I still got it anyways since I like the brands featured, and hopefully I’ll find a gem in it.
