Olia Box Jewelry Subscription Review – May 2018

Olia Box is a jewelry styling box that sends you 2-3 pieces that complement your style each month. Subscribers fill out a questionnaire when they sign up to let your stylist know what tones of metals you wear, what necklace style you prefer, and any other comments you might want to tell them (like pierced ears or ring size).

When you sign up, you’ll get to answer these questions:

  • Which metal tone(s) do you wear? (Gold Only, Silver Only, Mix Gold & Silver, or Surprise Me)
  • Which necklace style(s) do you prefer? (Everything Dainty, Bold & Chunky, Long Pendants, or Surprise Me)

I chose Surprise Me for each of these. You can change your preferences anytime by sending customer service an email.

There is also a comment box that you can add any additional info you want them to know. I added that I have multiple piercings in each ear.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.

Olia Box May 2018 Review

This month’s jewelry includes a coordinating necklace and a pair of earrings. Let’s see how they look!

Druzy Necklace

Druzy Necklace - Estimated Value $20

I love this multi-strand style of necklace. I like that the shorter strand is above most of my shirt necklines and the longer strand hits below my bust. The centerpiece here is the gold foiled, white druzy point pendant which is quite hefty. I like that it’s balanced with a delicate gold chain and smaller beads on the other strand. The closure is a lobster claw clasp with an extender that allows for some adjustment to the length.

Mother of Pearl Hoop Earrings

Mother of Pearl Hoop Earrings - Estimated Value $15

Staying with the white theme, these hoop earrings feature mother of pearl accented by textured gold edges. They look so glam but can be worn casual just as easily as dressed up. They’re lighter than they look and the wide backs make them comfortable to wear.

Here are the necklace and earrings worn together. I think they coordinate well but I’ll probably pair a simpler gold earring with this necklace in the future. I love the white and gold tones with chambray and think both pieces will be staples this summer.

The Verdict: Olia Box always does a great job of sending me jewelry that suits my style. I love the mix of dainty and statement. I’m not sure of the brands, but compared to prices for similar pieces (at Target.com), I estimate a retail value of $35 for this box. I also like that they back up their product with free shipping both ways in case you don’t like what you receive. If you want to try a jewelry box that allows you to pick your style and metal tone, this is a great one.

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Olia Box chooses jewelry for you based on your answers to the style choices. You might not get the same items I did, but you may end up with pieces that are even better for you. Sign up now to see what they pick for you!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.99 with free shipping which means that each of the pieces of jewelry in the box has an average cost of $17.50.

This company has absolutely horrible customer service. I ordered a 6 month subscription in December of 2017. It’s now October 2018 and only have received 3 boxes. I’ve left a complaint with there customer service, and haven’t heard anything from them. I’m on my second BBB complaint filed. Unacceptable, in all my years of ecommerce use I’ve never dealt with a more unprofessional company.

I am confused as to why in July I am getting a review of a may box, especially since it is monthly. That alone makes me question if I would subscribe to this box. I use your site religiously and am always looking for more jewelery subs but I can’t even consider a review that is so ‘outdated’ with not even a reason for it. Delayed shipping? You were out of town/vacation? Slacking? Idk.

Hi J,

Sorry, I know some reviewers have vacations/travel in the Summer, so some reviews are a little more delayed recently. Also, personally, I am behind on some May + June reviews (working to get caught up), and I’m hoping to be more on top of it moving forward. Sorry again!

Liz,

I appreciate your response. I absolutely understand that people have lives! I have quite a collection of 2 and 4 legged kids myself, as well as adventures to embark on. My problem/concern is that, just embrace it then. We are a willing audience. If you tell me you are behind or have been on a vacation I get that. We all have lives to lead. But, in my own personal endevours, if I am going to be late or behind on a task, I let my audience know and acknowledge my fault as to why. In a time sensitive blog, I would think updates or a transitional address could defunk these issues. Just a vested readers opinions who has started many a subscriptions based purely on your posts…
