Nosejoy July 2018 Review
In the past, Nosejoy has sent a welcome card with a few subscriber discounts and a separate info slip that gives a little description of each item in your box. For July, they seemed to have consolidated things into one slip and removed the discounts. I personally had never used them anyway since I'm receiving new good-smelling items month after month from my subscription!
This month's theme is "Orange You Glad?" which features the energizing scents of orange and grapefruit. I've been ALL about the citrus this summer, so I'm way into this theme!
Seaweed Bath Co. Citrus Vanilla Hydrating Body Wash, 12 fl. oz. — Retail Value $12.99
I'm close to the end of my bottle of Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle body wash, and while it served me well for several months worth of showers, I'm ready for something new. This citrus vanilla wash came at the perfect time. Its full-size bottle will let me linger on the fresh scents I'm loving so much this summer long past the hot, sunny days and I'm all for it. In addition to smelling both refreshing and sweet (neither the citrus nor the vanilla is too prominent—they blend together nicely), this product is Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Gluten Free, Paraben Free, and in a 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottle. All things I look for in bath products!
The Beauty of Hope Grapefruit & Vanilla Soy Candle, 3 oz. — Retail Value $11.00
To keep with the theme of vanilla-blended citrus scents, this soy candle mixes grapefruit and vanilla. It has a similarly sweet smell to the body wash and has an almost candy-like quality to its aroma but in a really nice way.
Along with the candle came this card highlighting The Beauty of Hope's mission to help end human trafficking. This is such an important cause and I'm thrilled that Nosejoy is supporting this charitable company.
Honestly Margo Clementine Grapefruit Citrus Energy Balm, 4 oz. — Retail Value $10.00
So far, this balm is the most traditionally citrusy scented item in the box. Its scent name is "Clementine," but its little subheading reads, "grapefruit citrus," and my nose definitely detects the slight bitterness of grapefruit in there. I had never heard of an "energy balm," but it's used pretty similarly to other types of balms, just with the energizing qualities of citrus essential oils (including lemon and lime) to enhance the experience. The Honestly Margo website suggests rubbing it across your forehead or temples, on the inside of your wrists, under your nose, and even on your lips. I went for under-the-nose for quick access to its awesome smell!
hydraAROMATHERAPY Refresh Shower Burst — Retail Value $5.25
Finally, I received a grapefruit lavender shower burst! I've tried shower bursts twice before, but their scents were so faint that they didn't do much to change my shower experience. This hemisphere is much more generously scented and the grapefruit-lavender combo is very spa-like.
I appreciated the extra slip of paper with directions on it. These directions differ a little from the shower burst I had tried in the past (not from this sub box) and I have a feeling they'll lead to more success. The other one suggested just leaving the burst on the floor and letting the water run over it. That lead to a sort of slippery-yet-gritty shower floor and basically made the whole thing wash away in about 3 minutes. I imagine having it on a dish or in a sachet, where it can be exposed to the humidity and a few errant drops from the shower stream, will be a better setup for longevity and letting the scent fill the shower.
Verdict: Nosejoy's July box came at the perfect time for own personal my citrus revolution! The orange and grapefruit scents are blissfully summery and combined with other aromas so they have some originality to them. Every one of these products is made in the USA and some have gone an extra step with their eco-friendly, clean, and/or altruistic efforts, which I love. Value-wise, this month's items exceeded the cost of the box. The box costs $34.95 (with free shipping), and the contents add up to $39.24. I'm happy with that value.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.95 + free shipping, which means that each of the 4 items in the box has an average cost of $8.74. In most cases, that's under the retail value, but of course without the added cost of shipping were you to order the product from its original site.
