An info card is included with the theme “Summer Vibes” and a list of products included with their values.

Lip Monthly June 2018 - Bag

Each month, Lip Monthly sends their products in a little makeup bag. This month’s bag is a colorful satin bag with hearts.

Lip Monthly Lipstick in 03 - Listed Value $16

This month, Lip Monthly included a lipstick exclusive to the Lip Monthly subscription. The shade is named 03 but reminds me of grape candy. The formula has pretty basic, thin texture for lipstick and needs to be built up for opaque coverage. There is a bit of a weird smell, probably because it’s not scented. I couldn’t find this listed anywhere online so it must really be exclusive. I don’t feel like this has the quality of a $16 lipstick though.

Hikari Lip Gloss in Salsa - Retail Value $13

This gloss is super shiny, has surprisingly rich pigment, and doesn’t feel tacky. But, it bleeds so badly. I think part of the problem was that I was just getting too much on the wand. It may work better to blot it a bit and treat it more like a stain.

Lip Monthly June 2018 - Hikari Mess

A lot seemed to kind of glob out of the tube. Maybe I got a defective package.

Pure & Glam Cosmetics Waterproof Lip Liner Pencil in Plum Perfection - Retail Value $15

This pencil has a nice smooth texture that just glides onto lips and is perfect for lining and filling. The shade is a wearable dark berry and is very matte. I had a couple of chapped spots toward the inside of my lower lip that the product did not want to stick to but a little gloss on top fixed that. It stays really well when worn alone and is easy to touch up if needed.

Lip Monthly June 2018 - Mix Worn

Here I layered the Hikari gloss over the lip pencil in hopes it would prevent feathering. It’s pretty, but it still bled like crazy.

Lip Monthly June 2018 - Blotting Papers Front Lip Monthly June 2018 - Blotting Papers Open

Sorme Natural Green Tea Blotting Papers, 100 sheets - Retail Value $6

I haven’t used blotting papers in years...since, like, high school when I had those rice paper blotting sheets from the drug store. But, it never hurts to have them in my beauty arsenal. While I don’t have a problem with oiliness, I often experience shine from products being too emollient right after application. Rather than pile on setting powder, these are great to blot off the excess shine without adding any extra product. The packaging is slim and easy to slide into even a small clutch and the sheets don't seem to have any scent at all.

Verdict: This month’s Lip Monthly delivered a 50/50 success rate for me. I’m glad to have a fresh pack of blotting sheets for my makeup bag and I like the lip pencil. The lipstick is just, eh, and the gloss is a mess (could just be my tube though). Lip Monthly is all about exploring new lip products and shades and such a variety of products are included that some will inevitably be hit or miss. I typically find at least one product that I like which often carries a value higher than the $12.95 cost. If you like trying a random assortment of new lip products, and you want full-size, this might be worth a try.

Glad you reviewed this box sites such as this hv helped me Sooooo much. I was subscribing to a lot of boxes. Had more misses than hits. Reading comments that some felt the same way made me feel that I wasn’t expecting to much or being picky. I went from 12 boxes down to 5. Boxy Charm & So Susan & Ipsy. Other 2 are for my beagle brother Trapper. Thank you for honest reviews. It’s very hard to find honest reviews. Sorry for writing this mini essay.

I’m officially never reading a review by you again. You are too darn beautiful and no matter what any sub sends you, you can pull it off!!! To say I’m jellie is an understatement!
This crappy sub colors look gorgeous on you! How do you do it??? I would have had to throw them all away lol
With much love 💖
(Kidding about not reading your reviews, I’ll continue to be amazed!)

It was a shocker to see the Hikari Lip Gloss in Salsa in the lip monthly bag this month. I got that same shade 2 years ago from lip monthly when I was a subscriber. I cancelled because I continued to get terrible shades. Who cares about the Value of the bag if you can’t wear anything they send you!

I completely agree! I was a subscriber when they first started for almost 2 years!!! I’m talking 2013-2015… and I came back to read the newer reviews and am surprised to see the exact same products in the exact same shades! The sunset all in one stick, the hikari in crush, the so Susan’s and Jelly pong pings. Everything is the same almost as if they just had so many saved up they are still giving them out! And they are clearly expired if they are 3-5 years old! It’s kind of gross to think about. And I was a fan of their bags!

I completely agree. They have monthly colour choices for one or two products each month when you subscribe however they are really vague and I never get the colour choices I have requested. The past two months I have received a “Lip Monthly” branded product and they have both been awful colours and of poor quality. The Lip Monthly branded products remind me of the cheap dollar worthy products I bought at the drug store when I was a young teen. I joined lip monthly to try decent brands not their own brand which in my opinion is a cheap bag filler. Lastly, on the topic of filling these bags their web site states “4 to 5 full sized products” every month. I started an annual subscription with them last October and I have NEVER had 5 products and have received at least 6 sample sized products that they claim are full sized. I will not be renewing this subscription as it has been a compete disappointment.

At least I’m not alone. I got a second bag a couple months ago, so I could get both color choices. I know one of the choices for August was a copper, and I got a red variation in one bag, and a pink in the other. All other items were exactly the same. There was no color difference in anything. I’m cancelling my second bag, as this is just low end products and the pretending to customize is insulting.

A second vote for clear liners. Sephora has them from the brand No More Bleeding Lips and also Urban Decay has their O-Zone liner. I also just have to say that I love that lip pencil color on you. 🙂

Tiffany, you are such a beauty! You can pull off just about any makeup look because you are naturally beautiful. These products were a bit hard to model but you shine through : )

I was subscribed to Lip Monthly for almost 2 years. If I kept 12 items during that time period, that was alot. If anyone loves dark lip colors, this is a must. All I ever received was dark colors. Even though we can choose 1 or 2 of the colors for the lip products, you had a choice of DARK colors. I.E. red, brown, purple, etc. It’s very rare a pale, pink or nude colors were an option. I do like Lip Monthly but they need to offer a better selection of colors. At $12.95 it’s a great deal. But I gave away about 90% of it away.

I was with lipmonthly for 6 months (May2018) before i quit the service. I stopped to check out other bags… after 6 months you do get a free bag… you must send them an email to prevent charging. I like lipmonthly so plan on resubscribing again… i cant wait to try the new lipsticks in August…

You wear bold lipstick colors so well! Have you ever tried one of the clear lip liners that go around the edge of the lips to prevent bleeding? Urban Decay makes one that I have, but I don’t wear lipstick that often and haven’t had one that needed it. I wondered if they worked for products like the gloss.
