Frank And Oak Style Plan for Men July 2018 Review
When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a quick style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). Then, you can pick whether you’d like a monthly or a bi-monthly plan and set your budget for each box (under $150 or $150+).
John chose Classic and straight fit.
Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up has about 12 products total on the page, and the three products set to ship are at the top of the page and marked with green check marks. The plan includes three items, but you can choose more than three if you’d like. You can also switch out any of your three items for another. The prices are all discounted for you, so it’s a deal compared to just shopping the regular site.
Here’s the invoice for the three pieces John ended up with, plus the return instructions. (If you didn’t know before, Frank And Oak is a Canadian company, which explains all the French you’ll see on their packaging and paperwork!)
John actually switched out two out of the three items for others from the 12 options they gave him. Let’s see what he ended up choosing!
Organic Recycled Light Terry Pullover Hoodie in Green, Size L – Retail Value $59.50, Member Price $49.50
This is the item that John kept of the original 3 picked out for him. I knew he’d like this because he loves green. The fabric is 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled polyester. It’s really smooth and soft and a perfect lightweight sweatshirt material. It won’t be super useful in our hot weather right now but will be perfect for when the evenings get cooler. I like the fit too! It doesn’t have the elastic band at the bottom or wrists which elevates it a touch and doesn’t feel restrictive. Oh, and John loves the hoodie feature. 🙂
The Jasper Oxford Shirt in Green, Size L – Retail Value $49.50, Member Price $39.50
Excuse the wrinkles, this is our daily struggle. Another great basic oxford shirt that doesn’t feel too plain. My favorite part is the color; it looks like denim blue in the pictures but it actually has a green sheen in different lighting. The 100% cotton fabric is thick enough to provide some structure but not cause John to swelter. I think the sleeves would look great rolled up and I like the button down collar feature.
Seersucker Windowpane Shirt in Navy, Size L – Retail Value $59.50, Member Price $49.50
The first thing John said was that this shirt feels like tissue paper “in a good way”, whatever that means. It’s actually seersucker and 98% cotton with 2% spandex, so it has a little stretch. This one is very thin and great for hot weather. The sleeves are a bit long on John so he’ll probably end up rolling them up. Like the last shirt, my favorite part is the color. The navy is rich and the golden windowpane pattern gives this shirt a bit of character.
The Verdict: John’s second month of Frank And Oak Style Plan was a hit, just like the first! I’m pleased with the quality and colors of the fabrics and John loves how comfortable they are to wear. The pricing and style feel similar to what he might find at the GAP, but with a sustainable angle. I’m glad he was able to preview the items and make changes because he can be super picky about his clothing. The items he received fit so nicely and are very much his style, so he’s a happy guy. I’m loving that Frank and Oak is helping him to conveniently build a wardrobe with a variety of styles.
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, each box is customized based on your style plan. Under the new $25 styling fee plan, boxes ship automatically on the 1st of the month, and you can log in 2 days before shipment to add or remove items or skip the month altogether. That said, you can still follow the product links above to shop these items for yourself from their site catalog!

Value Breakdown: I paid the member’s price of $138.50 for the three items I received this month, which would have cost me $168.50 at their regular retail prices. If I decide to return all three items, I will pay the $25 styling fee and will be refunded the remaining amount, but I can keep any one item at the discounted price and no styling fee will be charged.
