May 2018 Doki Doki by Japan Crate Review

The illustration on the cover of this month’s pamphlet is so fun and cute! May’s theme is Up, Up, and Away, full of all kinds of cool items for trips near and far. Let’s check out these getaway goodies, eh?

Angel Bunny Charm
I can’t think of a better good luck charm for a big trip than this adorable grey plush charm! This little bunny has such a sweet face, and those shiny wings actually made me squeal a little bit – they’re just so cute. Each one of these charms holds a different gemstone for luck and good energy; mine looks to be opal, which encourages intuition and individuality.

Sanrio Luggage Tag

Meant to make your luggage stand out in a group of other bags, this adorable bag tag is a nice large size, and has an address slip on the back in case – heaven forbid – your bag gets misplaced! I received the My Melody version, and her face is just so seriously cute. I really liked the pink colors of the one I received. It stands out perfectly against the black duffel I always take on weekend trips!

Sanrio Ticket Holder

Sanrio Ticket Holder

I could’ve received either Little Twin Stars or My Melody for this item – how cool is it that my ticket holder matches the luggage tag perfectly? I think the My Melody designs are always so cute, and this is a neat organizer, though the quality of this item isn’t as high as some of the other items in this box. I already have a travel organizer that also fits my passport, but I think it would be fun to set this up with fake airline tickets and passes for kiddos to play with!

Rilakkuma Travel Wipes
I would have never thought of these as an item to include in a box, but they are so perfect for the travel theme! There are so many occasions while traveling where one of these would come in so handy; after snacks on a road trip, before and after touching anything on an airplane, or after using a road stop bathroom.

Travel Kit
Okay, I have to confess: I am mildly heartbroken that I didn’t receive the unicorn version of this item. I love unicorns so much, and to have a kit of unicorn goodies would’ve been an awesome addition to my travel supplies. However, the bright colors of the one that I did receive, along with the cute bunny illustrations and slightly cheeky message, did eventually win me over. I was also definitely impressed with its contents; there are two little bottles for liquid that look to be TSA-compliant, a little jar for lotion or balm, a mirror, and a comb.

Verdict: I am a sucker for an enjoyable and well-curated theme, and Doki Doki delivered in a big way this month with cute and practical items! I received one fewer item this month than last month, but I really thought the travel kit was worth two items because it had so many interior elements and is so useful. The adorable angel charm and luggage tag both made me so happy, and although the ticket holder wasn’t necessarily the highest quality, it was still a fun item that fit the travel theme perfectly.
