June 2018 Doki Doki by Japan Crate Review
The illustration on the cover of this month’s pamphlet is so fun and cute! June’s theme is “Sparkling Summer” - doesn’t that sound inviting? Let’s see if these goodies refresh and delight, eh?
Shiba Inu Towel
No mistaking this for a summer-item! I love this little towel. It’s such a nice size and shape - it would definitely be useful for drying, but doesn’t take up much room. I looove the blue color background on this and the smug mug of this sweet little pup! The pamphlet suggests this towel would be useful at the gym, but I think I’m going to keep mine in my car for spur-of-the-moment adventures.
Sumikko Gurashi Ice Pack
At first, I thought this was some kind of beauty item - and then I realized it was an ice pack, for lunches! I received the polar bear, Polari, who is known for his love of drawing and bathing in hot springs. I really like the function of this; you can either pop it in the fridge for a li’l chill or even pop it in the freezer if you need things to be extra-frosty.
Sanrio Beach Tote
I’m a big fan of plastic totes like this one - they really are perfect for the beach! I received the Little Twin Stars version, and it’s just so cute. The blue color matches the other items I received this month, and it’s a nice size; plenty big enough for a swimsuit, sunscreen, and awesome beach read.
Bottle Cover
I’ve never seen one of these before! At first, I thought it was socks. While I am certainly familiar with its beer-snuggling cousin, the koozie, I didn’t realize that these bottle covers were so common in Japan. I have to say, though, I love its adorable Mt. Fuji print! It’s meant to protect your hand from the cold and condensation of the bottle, and let’s be honest - it kawaiified a plain ol’ water bottle in a big hurry.
Refreshing Glass Cup
I was so surprised - this is real glass! I received the Rilakkuma variety of this item, and I was really impressed with the overall quality of this. I’m always trying to drink more water, and I think having a cute glass on my desk will hopefully encourage that good habit!
Verdict: Another really well-executed theme for the month’s Doki Doki box! Excuse the pun, but these items were so “cool,” and I definitely can work them into summer fun! The lunch box cooler would be great for bringing a picnic to an outdoor concert, the tote is custom-made for a last-minute trip to the beach, and that adorable towel will be great if I find myself taking an unexpected swim!
