CHC Vintage July 2018 Review
This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! Let’s see what June’s shipment had in it for me:
There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. I like the idea of the rose cardigan, I just don’t have one, but it’s something that might be worthwhile for me to order because I can see myself using it in other instances, as well.
100% Rayon Vintage Dress
This is pretty basic (no zippers or buttons or bows or anything) but that lets you really focus on the print. I am a fan of floral prints and have been into pink lately and this is just generally a good color combination for me. It fits pretty well (there is a “size 3/4” tag in the back but since I’m not sure how old this is, and sizes change, I don’t know what to make of that). I totally don’t have to suck in my stomach to wear this, which I love. In fact, I wore this to work the day after we took these pictures (with a white shrug as I tend not to do the sleeveless thing). The length is good for me, too – longer than knee length but not so long it drags on the floor (I’m 5’5” or so), so I can choose heels or flats depending on my mood.
This does say dry clean only on the label, which is a pain, but this website says you can hand wash rayon in cold water so I may try that instead. Rayon is made from treated wood pulp (!) but this is lightweight and breathable, which is welcome when it is in the 90s and humid every day.
Verdict: I like the dress I received from CHC Vintage this month. With appropriate accessories and undergarments, this works for my office, which is great since that’s about the only place I ever wear dresses, these days. As usual, it was in excellent shape – clean, with no rips, tears, stains, unusual smells, etc.).
There is a generous exchange policy if something doesn’t fit or has some other issue (I once received a dress with a broken zipper, for example, and the exchange was super simple). I don’t regularly shop at consignment or vintage stores, so I don’t know how this price compares to what you would see somewhere like that. But I would definitely pay $40 or more for a wear-to-work dress, and I got one here, so this subscription is worth it to me from that perspective.
