Bare Minerals 11-Piece Beauty Surprise Review

The box always comes with an invoice detailing the products included. The invoice is tucked inside of a black sleeve that also has a “thank you” and any information on coupons.

Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick in Fresh, Full-Size!

Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick in Fresh, Full-Size! – Retail Value $19

I got the hot pink version of this in my last box so it is nice to see a more neutral color this time around. My opinion of this liquid lipstick is consistent regardless of the shade I try—the color pigment is gorgeous and it is comfortable to wear, but it just doesn't last as long as I would prefer a liquid lipstick to last. If you're not as particular about that as I am then getting these in the mystery boxes is such a steal.

Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick in Strip, Full-Size! – Retail Value $20 (found here for $18)

This lipstick was so smooth and hydrating—when I was applying it I felt like I was applying lip balm! Strip is a really great neutral color. It is described as a “rosy brown with an addictively creamy texture. I can definitely agree with the addictive texture part!

Gen Nude Patent Lip Lacquer in Addicted,

Gen Nude Patent Lip Lacquer in Addicted, Full-Size! - Retail Value $19

This is actually a relatively new product from Bare Minerals, so I am happy to see it in this mystery box! This is a liquid lipstick with the finish of a high-shine lip gloss, so, unfortunately, it was a bit sticky on me. Addicted is described as a "rich pink rose" and I definitely think some dark red undertones peep out with this.

Statement Under Over Lip Liner in Genius, Full-Size! – Retail Value $16

I love the Bare Minerals lip liners! They are so pigmented and creamy, and they also blend out really beautifully. Genius is described as a neutral pink shade, but I do think there are some fuchsia undertones that make it really pop!

Round The Clock Intense Cream-Glide Eyeliner in 6 PM,

Round The Clock Intense Cream-Glide Eyeliner in 6 PM, Full size! – Retail Value $17 (found here for $14)

Round The Clock Intense Cream-Glide Eyeliner in 1 AM, Full size! – Retail Value $17 (similar shades found here for $14)

This time around I received two eyeliners which is a change from the usual one, but I love the formulas of these pencils! They are SO creamy, smooth, and easy to apply, plus I don’t have to worry about them running down my face if I’m extra oily. 6 PM is a deep violet hue and to be honest I wish the purple was more vibrant—when I swatched it, it basically looked like a brown-black! I couldn’t find 1 AM on the website, but it is such a gorgeous deep black eyeliner with a few flecks of glitter thrown in for good measure.

Flawless Definition Mascara, Full-Size! - Retail Value $19 (found here for $15)

I am not a big fan of the lash domination line of mascaras from Bare Minerals, but this is my second mascara from the Flawless line and I really like it! This mascara really put in work defining, lifting, and lengthening each individual lash. I probably stood in front of the mirror for five minutes applying coats at different angles, and I never had an issue with this mascara clumping on me. This would also be great in a mascara tandem for length and definition combined with a volumizing mascara for lashes that really pack a punch.

Invisible Glow Powder Highlighter in Medium,

Invisible Glow Powder Highlighter in Medium, Full-Size! - Retail Value $28

Even though I am fair skinned and this highlighter is directed towards medium skin tones, this highlighter really lives up to its name in terms of being invisible! It also came with a card showing everywhere to apply it, which is handy if highlighter is a new product for you. Usually, if I am using a highlighter I want to shine like a star, so this is a bit of a personal miss for me. At the time I used it I couldn't really see a difference, but now that I am looking back at my selfie I do think I have a bit of a glow going on, so maybe the highlighter worked for me after all!

Combo Control Milky Face Primer, Full-Size! - Retail Value $26

This was the first time a primer was included since I started reviewing this box, and as I have no experience with Bare Minerals primers I was really stoked to try it! This really does have a thin, milky texture—I was surprised when I started to use it! It absorbs quickly and left my skin feeling soft and prepped for my foundation while also being hydrating. Unfortunately, I am on the very oily side of combo skin and this couldn’t quite hold up to it, but I think if your face has true combo skin or dry skin you will like this primer.

Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush - Retail Value $20

The mystery box usually comes with one or two brushes, and as a makeup brush hoarder, I have no complaints. I actually didn't have a good-quality concealer brush in my arsenal so this filled that need, and I thought it performed well too. This is on the smaller end so it is better for spot concealing rather than blending in a bunch of concealer on your undereye, but I had a nasty, massive breakout on my chin when I tried this out and I was satisfied with the end result.

All Over Face Color in Warmth, small – Buy the full-sized version here for $21

This is the third time I have received this small all over face color in warmth, and I’m over it. It is so hard to get color that is supposed to be used as a bronzer out of this small container, so I haven’t even used my original one from January other than for trying it out for the review. It does blend well and is a good fit for my pale skin, and considering how great the rest of this box is getting this isn’t the end of the world.

Here are the swatches! From left to right we have Fresh, Addicted, Strip, Genius, 6 pm, 1 am, the highlighter, and the bronzer.

Here is the look I did using this month’s box! I applied the primer from the box before taking the concealer brush and my heavy duty concealer (this isn't my everyday concealer, it is what I use when I need the big guns to cover something) to go over my acne and my dark circles. Next, I used my Wet n’ Wild Cushion Foundation because I wasn’t wanting a heavy face of makeup at the time. I lined my upper and lower lash line with 1 AM and then spent a solid 5 minutes applying the mascara—at a certain point I was applying coats just to see if it would clump, and it never did! I took the highlighter and applied it everywhere the card suggested, so my under eyes, the arch of my brow, my nose, my chin, and my cupids bow. I then did a thick line around my lips using Genius and then rubbed my lips together to blend it out. I then finished off my lips by applying Strip to the center of my lips and rubbing them together a bit more.

The Verdict: This box is never not a good value, but it felt like this month was extra awesome thanks to the addition of the primer and highlighter, plus a liquid lipstick that was new to the brand. The only real miss for me was the small face color, but considering everything else was full sized I am still a happy camper. This box promised a value of $232, and by my math, they come up a bit short with a value of the box at $201 not including the small face color. The value is still definitely there, but be aware there usually is a bit of a discrepancy between the promised value and the actual value of the box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this box is sold out.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $55 with free shipping, which means that each of the 11 items in the box has an average cost of $5. That is a steal!

Whatever you have been using on your skin (I remember seeing it in a couple of reviews) has taken your skin to the next level. You always look great, but here, your skin is peaches & cream. Great review!

I’ve been making use of my bronzer by using it as a quick eyeshadow when I don’t have time for a full look. I’m glad I didn’t get this box again tho I am still working on the last one.

Their concealer brush is iconic! It’s the best concealer brush I’ve ever used, even better than Jane Iredale’s IMO and I usually prefer her brushes to any other). This brush also lasts forever with good care. I use one or the other of mine every day for under eye area.

I’m really glad they put one in the Mystery Boxes.
