Trunk Club Plus Clothing May 2018 Review

So first, a little more about how Trunk Club works. When I signed up, I took a pretty lengthy style questionnaire online. Then, I was matched with a stylist who asked me even more about what I like and what I was looking for via an online chat. Based on this information, she selected several items for me to try on at home. She then sent me a link to preview all my items! There is also an option to allow your stylist to send a few surprise pieces.

This packet was included in my trunk.

The front of the enclosed booklet now has instructions!

Inside is a note from my new stylist, Sydney. This is the fourth or fifth stylist I have had in a year. It is usually a pretty smooth transition, but I really wish they were a little more thorough with their note taking and reading. But, all my stylists have been super accessible via the app.

This is my invoice. It lists the items I was sent and the cost to keep each item. My $25 styling fee will be deducted from anything I decide to keep. When I've finished repackaging the items I don't want to keep in the box, I just put this return label on it and use the tape straps to tape it back up! So convenient!

Bardot Mini by Glamorous - Retail Value $85

First of all, I absolutely ADORE the print on this lightweight polyester dress. It's just gorgeous! Unfortunately, I kind of hate the cut. I think it would actually be cuter if it was, in fact, a mini, but it comes to well below my knees. I'm not usually a fan of the off-the-shoulder ruffle look, but this one isn't bad, it's just that the rest of the dress is so shapeless. I wish it had a bit of shape!

Floral Ruffle Trim Chiffon Halter Maxi Dress by Eliza J - Retail Value $178

Okay, this dress is just completely beautiful, and that's all there is to it! I just love it! It's so elegant and perfect for summer! It's a very well-made chiffon polyester and completely lined. I love the halter tie at the back of the neck. I also love the length, and the print and the colors are simply amazing! I just wish it wasn't so spendy... I will definitely have to come up with a special event to justify buying this!

Mixed Paisley A-line Dress by Eliza J - Retail Value $138

What a fun dress! This is a polyester spandex blend, and I actually think it is a good shape for my figure. Unfortunately, I do not wear long sleeves in the summer! It's just too hot here in Georgia. I do really like the print on this dress, though - it's very funky!

Embellished Floral Tie Neck Blouse by Gibson - Retail Value $59

This polyester chiffon tank is just adorable! I love the tie neck and the little pom poms! The color and print are great, too. The only problem is the size, it just doesn't fit well. This is where some continuity in stylists would be helpful. I mentioned to my previous stylist that X's in misses sizes are not the same as X's in plus sizes (e.g. XXL does not equal 2X), and she never made that mistake again, but it seems like the message was not passed along to my new stylist. Oh well, mistakes happen.

Pull On Solid Short by Michel Studio - Retail Value $56

These shorts are amazing! I love the way they fit and feel! They're a viscose/nylon/elastane blend, and they are so comfortable! Plus they are nice and dark black, and they have a bit of a dressy look to them (for shorts). They don't look great in this picture, but I think it's because the top is so ill-fitting. I think with a shirt that was the right length and cut, they would look great.

Ruched Sleeve Cardigan by Bobeau - Retail Value $68  (found on sale here for $45.56)

This rayon/spandex blend cardigan is soooo soft, I wish you could reach in and touch it! Bobeau knows how to make a soft, flattering cardigan! Unfortunately, there is no way I would purchase a long sleeve sweater in the late spring!

The Verdict: I am a big fan of Trunk Club! This month was a mixture of hits and misses, as usual, but I really love the maxi dress so much! I just hope I can justify the expense! I think Trunk Club is a little on the spendy side, but it's still loads of fun to try all the pieces!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Trunk Club curates its boxes based on each individual's preferences as well as what's available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $25 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the 6 items inside is $574. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep anything, the $25 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase. That is an average $95.67 an item, which is on par with the brands included.

You should try the yellow dress with a thin belt on it and/or maybe a long necklace. That dress is so cute, and it does look great on you. In my opinion, it only lacks complements! Hope it helps! 🙂

The maxi dress looks amazing. I usually buy Eliza J at the Rack but had to purchase a must-have at retail before 😳

The maxi dress is gorgeous and looks gorgeous on you. It may be a bit spendy but I think sometimes just the right piece of fashion will come along that is a perfect fit and it’s okay to treat ourselves to a splurge. I hope you keep it.
