Sweet Sparkle April 2018 Review

This month includes makeup to create a springy look. Let’s see what they included.

Each month, an info card is included with an intro to the theme and the product names, descriptions, and retail values. This month’s theme is “Precious Pink”.

Concrete Minerals Mineral Eyeshadow in Sweet Catrina,

Concrete Minerals Mineral Eyeshadow in Sweet Catrina - Retail Value $8

OMG. There are so many shades of these beautiful loose eyeshadow pots. I want them ALL! This shade is a mauve-pink with silver and pink glitter flecks. It sound like a lot is going on here, but it’s actually a super buildable shadow and the glitter is pretty subtle. You can definitely pump up the sparkle by using a damp brush. The price is reasonable for the amount too!

Cailyn Cosmetics Art Touch Tinted Gloss Stick in Love Stamp -

Cailyn Cosmetics Art Touch Tinted Gloss Stick in Love Stamp - Retail Value $19

I’m happy to see a pink shade of lip gloss this month. Matte liquid lip seems to be all that comes in beauty boxes lately. This gloss has a soft doe foot applicator, no noticeable scent, and a shiny, non-tacky finish. I love that it is so natural that I can apply it without looking. My lips feel moisturized even after the shine wears off. Love it!

Kasina Professional Tapered Lashes in Black - Retail Value $2.99

These lashes are made of 100% human hair and are tapered at the end to make them more “realistic”. I was able to get them on and they look ok but they (including all other lashes I’ve tried) just aren’t comfortable to wear. They are supposed to have a thinner band, therefore being more comfortable. If you are a false lashes person, you can’t go wrong trying these at this price point. I’m going to hold on to them in case of a super glam makeup look.

J. Cat Beauty Quad Spectrum Palette Highlighter

J. Cat Beauty Quad Spectrum Palette Highlighter - Retail Value $5.99

This is such a trendy little cream highlight quad. The shades have different iridescent undertones and bigger glitter chunks along with the shimmer. They’re all subtle and blend out pretty well. The glitter part is where this loses me. There is enough there to make me not want this as my face highlight but not enough to use as an eyeshadow topper.

Real Techniques Miracle Mini Complexion Sponge 4 Pack

Real Techniques Miracle Mini Complexion Sponge 4 Pack - Retail Value $8

These tiny sponges can be used damp or dry to apply or touch up makeup. The size is perfect for spot concealing or correcting any smudges. They are soft and bouncy and come in four different colors which is helpful to keep them for separate products. I don’t have any mini sponges so I’m happy to add these to my makeup kit. Real Techniques has some great tutorials on their site if you need some help learning how to use these.

Swatches of the makeup (top to bottom): mineral eyeshadow, highlighter palette, and lip gloss. I wish the sparkles in the highlighter and eyeshadow had shown up better.

Here I’ve done my version of “Precious Pink”. I laid down a base of matte light shadow on my lid and then worked the Concrete Minerals eyeshadow into my crease. I layered more on the outer corners to bring some depth without having to use a darker shade. Typically I’d add some mascara and go, but I wanted to show the lashes. I used the pink toned highlight shade to brighten the high points of my face and the white shade in the inner corners of my eyes. Lastly, I swiped a layer of the Cailyn lip gloss onto my bare lips.

Verdict: Sweet Sparkle’s “Precious Pink” box has a value of $43.98 with free shipping. That’s a lower value than last month, but I like these items much better. Receiving a popular brand of makeup tools, like Real Techniques, is nice and I’m excited to collect some more Concrete Minerals eyeshadows. I actually really like everything except the lashes. I’m just not great with lashes so it’s fair to say it is hard to impress me with them. All of the items, as always, are full-sized and coordinated to create an entire look. I hope the quality of the products continues to get better in the next few months.

My 17 yr old nieces would love this box. I think the sparkle is a bit too much for me. I love that you swatch AND put the makeup on in your reviews. Love your reviews!!! I would like to try lashes but they look painful.

I really like those Real Techniques mini sponges- I got them in my Walmart box & use them all the time.

The eyeshadow & lip gloss are pretty on you. The colors are great!

This looks like a interesting box- I’m gonna think about giving it a try.

Thanks for reviewing this- everything looks great on you!

Those lashes look great! Very natural but still enough to make everyday makeup just a bit more impactful!

Thank you so much for reviewing this, especially putting it all on to show it off. Normally when I see a lippie tube in a shade like that, I groan and roll my eyes at yet another nude lip and think “Oh my god, when will this nude trend end, i want some color!!” ….. but it does look pink on your lips, and looks very pretty!

I love that this box gives an entire look every month. I’m still very much a makeup newbie as far as creating looks, and part of that is choosing products that work together. This box has been short listed for when I get money again.
