Quirky Crate May 2018 Box Review
The info card for the box lists out all of the products in the box on one side, then spotlights the month’s featured artist, Lazer Kitten, on the other.
Nail Polish Pin by Lazer Kitten – Retail Value $12.00, Listed Value $10.00 (Found here for $2.00)
This little pin is only about 1″ big, but it’s got a LOT of personality. It’s bright pink, covered in glitter, and even features a star and moon design around the cap. I love that this box always features a design by an indie artist (especially when those designs are so much fun)!
Quirky Crate Iron-On Patch – Listed Value $7.00
The color palette of this patch feels so fresh! I dig the desert motif and the pastel rainbow arching over the back of the scene. This patch is around 2″ big. I was thinking that maybe I’d iron it on over top of a not-as-cool logo on an old baseball hat I have. Instant on-trend dad hat!
Quirky Crate Moon Child Socks –Â Listed Value $8.00
Each box in this subscription comes with a pair of super cute socks. This month’s pair is positively dreamy, thanks to the pink and yellow crescent moons on their ankles. They remind me of Bedtime Bear from the Carebears. (I think his moon was blue, but the shape is the same!) They’re thinner socks, but that makes them a nice pick for summer. They’d look super cute under some sandals or chunky wooden platforms.
Lock Me Up Heart Lock and Key –Â Listed Value $4.50
This lock and key is just itching for a bright pink diary (Maybe with a squishy cover? Ooo, or a FUZZY one!) For now, I might use it on my jewelry box, or just loop it over a long chain like a charm on a pendant necklace. The pastel pink is so sweet! I don’t think it’s the sturdiest lock. (It’s the kind of thing you probably wouldn’t trust with snooping siblings back in your diary days.) But for aesthetics alone, it scores high marks from me!
Enamel Purse Charm – Listed Value $16.00
Hooray for soft-serve season! This charm will look sweet swinging from the strap of my purse. It’s got a nice weight to it, and I love the subtle sparkle of the hot pink tassel.
Computer Note Papers – Listed Value $3.50
How cute are these notes?! I wish I had a bright pink computer! You can either flip these small, sticky-note-sized papers over to leave a note on a blank side or scribble a message on the computer screen. I might just pin one up on my office corkboard as a cute bit of miniature art!
Streamline Owl Night Light –Â Retail Value $20.99, Listed Value $14.00
Aw, this 3″ tall owl has a little light inside it that adds a subtle glow to my hallway table. No more stumbling around in the dark for me! It’s also rather opaque so that it looks just as cute during daylight hours. It’s a functional and charming piece of decor!
Watermelon Purse – Listed Value $18.00
I am soooo wearing this to my next summer picnic! This faux leather watermelon slice bag is only about the size of a bigger makeup bag—it holds my giant phone and clunky keys, but not a whole lot else (partially because the half-moon shape is a little limiting). But it’s so darn cute that I’ll happily reserve it for special occasions when I’m not looking to tote around a lot of odds and ends.
The Verdict:Â I’m always such a fan of this box. Are all of the items the highest quality things in the world? Eh, no not really. Are they the most useful? Mmm… sometimes. But do they bring a smile to my face? Unquestionably, yes! For me, this box is the definition of a treat-yourself subscription. It’s fun and playful and sweet, and I look forward to getting it in a way I don’t always eagerly await other boxes. I can’t wait to wear my new purse out and about, and I’m excited to figure out where to put my new pin and patch!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Order soon to get the May box! Order by the 13th of the month to get that month’s box. Boxes ship of the 15th of each month.
Value Breakdown:Â This box cost $40.94 (price + US shipping) and has an estimated value of $89.99. That value total relies on a lot of listed values rather than ones found online, so take it with a grain of salt. Another way to look at it is that given the cost of the box, each of the 10 items has an average value of $5.12.

Just an fyi, but there are variations on the pin and notepad. I got the Kelly pin and a computer screen shot rather than the computer itself for the notepad. 🙂
Adorable things however I’m not seeing the $35 value. I feel like the owl light and watermelon purse could be found for maybe $5 each and the rest feels like dollar store stuff. Really cute dollar store stuff mind you, but maybe $15 to $20 max.
The price does seem a little high for the quality of some of the items. Maybe their smaller “Quirky Post” subscription would be more up your alley! It’s only $12.95 per month plus shipping – you can read our last review of it here: https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2018/05/quirky-post-subscription-box-review-coupon-april-2018.html
Thanks for commenting, Melissa!
The watermelon purse sells for $4.95
The computer note papers $1.59
Socks $1.99
on aliexpress, probably no point searching the rest, cute stuff but why shouldn’t inflate prices
Honestly this just looks like a bunch of cheap junk to me.
It’s all from AliExpress. It’s cheap stuff from China. The watermelon purse is 4.95 on there. It’s pretty common actually that these sub boxes cheap out by buying stuff you might find from eBay sellers from China and AliExpress which also has most of it’s sellers in China. I always feel like they come across as scams trying to pull a trick on those who are less e-shopping savvy. Crazy Cat lady Box uses Aliexpress. Doki Doki crate uses Daiso which is a Japanese dollar store to fill their crates monthly. They happen to be lucky that Daiso has Sanrio licensed items but their quality tends to be poor in comparison to other Sanrio items. I wish My Subscription Addiction would do more research on this and warn others.
This sub really has the most adorable looking items ever. The price is out of my range but if I ever cancel all my beauty ones I’m going for it.
Just as an fyi they do make a cheaper version called QuirkyPost. Its around $17/month and it has the pin, the patch, and the socks. I cancelled their crate in February and tried the Post until last month. It was so cute but i now have a good selection of socks and pins and patches.
