Gaia Collective MoonBox "Flourish" Review May 2018

This little card introduces the concept behind the box.

This next card introduces the lunar phases for June as well as the "intention" for the month, which is to "Discover".

I also got an email with information on how to access extra resources about using my box. I feel like this kind of thing makes whatever I get in my box have an added level of value. Especially with "spiritual" products, it's helpful to understand what their use or significance is (and not have to go out of your way researching that information for yourself).

Cosmic Collage Moon Calendar
Each box comes with a colorful woven mat that acts as a lunar and astrological calendar for the month. I love the pink color of this month's mat!

The box also came with a bag of four crystals.

The crystals are each about 1-2 inches big.

Ametrine
This purple stone has a smooth shape that feels nice rolling around in my palm. The info card says that this stone is associated with abundance and intuition.

Peach Moonstone
This stone looks like a little like a funny version of an orange slice, with its white striations and creamy orange hue. The card says it's associated with discovery and soothing energy.

Tangerine Quartz
More orange! I love the sunbeam quality that this light-catching quartz has. I actually got what I assume are two pieces of this same stone (one long, one that's more pointed). This stone is said to connect to personal power.

Aragonite from Jewel Tunnel
In addition to the bag of crystals, I also received this small piece of aragonite sent in a small jewelry box (like you'd expect to find a ring inside). It's only a little over an inch long, but it has such an intricate shape. According to what I can find online, this stone is all about grounding, focusing, and encouraging spiritual growth.

Enzyme Lemonade Nail & Cuticle Repair Oil, 0.35 oz. - Retail Value $12.99
My cuticles are almost always dry and sad, so they certainly appreciated this nourishing oil! It does smell just like fresh lemon and features a mix of sunflower oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, jojoba, and vitamin E.

Soapy Layne Endless Summer Body Oil, 1 fl. oz. - Buy a 2 fl. oz. bottle for $16.00 here
Not only is this body oil nourishing (with its combination of sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, sunflower oil, and cocoa butter), but it leaves a dusting of glimmering gold shimmer behind! The mix of lavender, sage, and lemon smells fresh, clean, and perfectly summery, too.

Mina Mystic Florida Water Smudging Tonic, 2 oz. - Retail Value $10.00
This formula is meant to help clear the energy in your space, but it also doubles as a great aromatic room spray. The scent is a little sweet while still being light and even a little romantic. It came with a coupon card from the brand, which I always appreciate.

Sage Smudge
Weirdly, this smudge is listed as "Love by Luna Mystic Mani" nail polish on the info card, which is a product I got in last month's box. Whoops! Regardless, this bundle of sage comes tied with a red velvet ribbon. I'll probably unwrap the ribbon at least a bit before burning the sage (it's not the kind of thing that strikes me as clean burning), but it does give the sage a dramatic look when it's sitting on my coffee table.
The Verdict: This box was very crystal heavy! I feel like MoonBox has been leaning harder into its spiritual side of late. They used to include a tea and a custom essential oil rollerball, other small self-care finds, and a little bag of crystals. Everything was still really mindfully curated around the box's theme. But the most recent boxes I've received have just felt more geared towards rituals, especially with the new monthly mat taking center stage. I feel like this box would be a fun gift for someone just starting to get interested in crystals and astrology, since it's mostly about the practices involved, rather than tangental lifestyle items (though they're still there, just for fun).

Value Breakdown: The box itself cost $31.50 after shipping. That means that the average price of each item, via the box, is $4.50 (counting the bag of crystals as one item). I couldn't find retail values for every item, but the ones I did find totaled $22.99, meaning the remaining 5 items must have an average value of $1.70 each to meet the price of the box.
