Mama & Baby Summer Box May 2018 Review

When I opened the box I was greeted with a cute quote about motherhood and a nice card thanking us for supporting this small business. The design of both are really pretty and I love that the back of the card gives mamas just a little bit of encouragement. I like the line about making things a “tad bit easier/fun” because I felt like it really set the tone for this box and what their purpose is. There were a few typos on the card, but I felt like the sentiment was still there.

2 Cotton Muslin Bibdanas - Total Estimated Value $5.98 ($2.99 each based on similar items found here)

The items for baby in this month’s box were these super cute cotton bibdanas. One in a panda pattern and the other in a bright watermelon pattern. They each have two snaps which means you can make it two different sizes. I like that these are made out of the same material as some burp cloths meaning that they will be great at soaking up drool or spit up. I find the patterns to be pretty gender neutral and fun!

Soothing Clay Mask

Soothing Clay Mask - Estimated Value $2.50 (based on single clay masks like these which you can find at most retailers)

This clay mask is made by the creator of the box and there is a good bit in the packet. I used it on my entire face and there is still enough left for one or two more uses. The clay mask dried and tightened on my skin and left it feeling really clean and I could almost feel a cooling effect on my skin afterward. My skin felt firmer, but it was also a little dry, although I’m not sure it’s entirely from the mask since that’s pretty common for me. There were no ingredients or amount listed on the packet so I’m sure that might deter some people from trying it, especially if your skin is a bit sensitive to certain products.

Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar - Estimated Value $1.00 (prices ranged from under a dollar to over, but it seems they are out of stock most places!)

I’ve seen these around and have been wanting to try them so this was fun to see in the box. It was delicious, Oreo creme filling inside and milk chocolate on the outside. I just wish it had a tad bit more of the cookie crunch! But it was a perfect sweet treat!

Silver Bar Necklace - Estimated Value $17 (based on a similar item found here)

It’s been awhile since I’ve received a piece of silver jewelry in a box so this was a nice change. The necklace is really simple and adjusts to multiple lengths. I think it will make a nice addition to any outfit to dress it up just a little. There were no tags or names on it, but it did come in its own little mesh bag. It’s definitely not a high-quality piece of jewelry, but I do like it and will definitely wear it.

Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer Single Use Packers (3) - Buy 125 for $24.75 (found here for $17.75)

I can always appreciate extra hand sanitizer! Especially these little on the go packs that I can stash anywhere. Not a high-value item, but incredibly useful and I appreciate that they made it feel a bit more special by putting it in a little mesh bag!

Vine Street Market Faded Black, Stars & Stripes Canvas, Large Market Tote - Retail Value $65 (found here for $15.99)

This bag is very large at 34” x 22” and able to hold 60 lbs worth of items. I love that even though it’s huge, it folds up into itself so compactly into a neat little square that you can stash in your car or even purse. I also appreciate that the outer pocket can be flipped inside the bag to create an interior pocket. The strap on this bag is really wide which is helpful if you want to test out the full weight limit! I couldn’t capture an image of the wide strap, but their website is good to reference. This is one of those bags that I can’t think of anything I’d use it for now, but I know one day I’m going to really appreciate having it when I need it!

Here you can see both the tote and necklace on me. The tote is pretty long and the necklace can actually be made longer, I have it on a shorter setting.

Verdict: I thought that this Mama & Baby box was a great concept for moms. A little something for baby and a few things for yourself all for $20 + free shipping. I think all of the items were very practical and useful for a mom and it’s an affordable monthly treat for yourself. I estimate the value to be $92.07 which is great for a $20 box! Even if you take into account the sale price of the tote, the value is still more than double the cost of the box.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
