Lola Beauty Box April 2018 Review
This month features skincare and makeup products. Let’s check it out:
Each box comes with a card detailing the brands and items included along with the prices and websites for each. This month’s theme is “Find Beauty in Rain”.
Mellow Cosmetics Treasure Chest Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $24 (currently out of stock)
Look at this packaging! It’s so gold and pretty and sparkly…plus, it’s slim enough to travel with and has a built-in mirror.
Ok, moving on to the actual product. This palette includes 4 matte shades and 8 shimmery shades from light to deep. I can create an entire eyelook without having to reach for other shadows, which is what I like. The shadows are soft and buttery and blend beautifully. A couple of them have some fallout but not terrible and the two lightest shades are a little chunkier than the rest but can still be blended out well.
Graydon Skincare Face Foam, 1.7oz/50ml - Retail Value $15
Although this is a nice cleanser, it’s just not suited for my skin which is super dry and just doesn’t like most cleansers. It gives a gentle, deep clean and leaves my skin feeling fresh and toned. My problem is that within an hour or two, my face feels tight like it got too clean. I think if you have combo or even oily skin this would be perfect. It’s formulated to have a similar PH to skin and is fragrance-free, so it is less likely to irritate even sensitive skin.
Juice Beauty Last Looks Cream Blush in Orange Blossom, 11oz/3g - Retail Value $25
I tend to shy away from orange-tinted cosmetics but this one is actually very wearable. It blends to more of a coral than orange. Speaking of blending, it does so beautifully on top of my tinted moisturizer and doesn’t leave a heavy feel. If you know of Juice Beauty, you’ll know that they steer clear of artificial dyes and fragrances (among other things) and is a great beauty line to try if you have sensitivities.
Velvet 59 The Malibu Sunset Collection Lipstick in Coral Canyon - Retail Value $18
More glam packaging! This shiny copper lipstick bullet houses a bright coral-pink lipstick. I like the smooth, lightweight formula that smells like mmm...icing. It isn’t transfer proof but it wears well and leaves a tint of color even when worn off. My lips stay comfortable throughout wear time too. I think this color would look gorgeous on sunkissed skin for the summer. There are three other colors in this collection that I may need to check out.
Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in Onyx - Retail Value $10
I sighed when I unboxed this product. I haven’t really loved anything I’ve received from Be A Bombshell and it just seems plain in comparison to the other products I received this month. This felt tip liquid liner is kind of sheer and bleeds a little while it’s drying. The staying power isn’t bad but I would plan on layering it with a liner shadow or something similar.
Swatches of the products (left to right): lipstick, cream blush, and eyeliner pen.
Here’s a look with all of the makeup products this month. Starting with my eyes, I used the shade Pearl as my transition shade, a mix of Amethyst and Smoked Topaz on the inner half of my lid and Garnet and Smokey Quartz on the outer half. Then I popped some Crystal into my inner corners. I lined my eyes with the BAB liquid liner pen and smudged some Onyx over it to deepen the line. On my face, I’ve blended the Juice cream blush onto my skin with my fingers. For my lips, I applied two coats of the Velvet 59 lipstick.
The Verdict: Lola Beauty Box really served up some good products this month. Even though the cleanser doesn’t work for me, it’s good quality and I have a girlfriend who’s already enjoying it. I’m totally loving the blush, eyeshadow palette, and the lipstick. The one bummer is the BAB eyeliner pen which just doesn’t match the quality of other liner pens I’ve tried. Everything is full sized and with a value of $92, Lola Beauty Box comes through on their promise of at least a $70 value. I think that’s a good value for a $21 box that always introduces me to new types of products and brands.

- Juice Blush: $5.71
- Velvet 59 Lipstick: $4.11
- Be A Bombshell Liquid Liner: $2.28
