We have the FULL spoilers for the June 2018 Emma & Chloe box!

The featured designer this month is Solweig.

After obtaining her degree in graphic arts, Justine wanted to create her own jewelry brand. It was a true passion that she had since childhood.

Committed to French artisanship, she designs her collections entirely by hand in her Marseille studio in the south of France.

Beyond their elegance and finesse, the Solweig jewels are a real invitation to travel.  The colorful, bright and poetic aspects of this collection powerfully depict the designer’s universe and her creations.

More from Emma & Chloe:

1 / Who hides behind SOLWEIG?
Behind Solweig hides Justine! I live in the south of France by the sea and I'm 26 years old. I created Solweig jewelry about two years ago after several experiences in the fashion and accessory business. The creation and the jewels are a true passion since a long time ago!

2 / How was your passion for jewelry born? Why have you created your brand?
I have always been close to everything since I was 12-13 years old and I was attracted by jewelry creation since that time. I made small pearl rings or animals and with my cousin, we sold them to our grandparents!
I have a very entrepreneurial side, I like to run my own business and I really wanted to make my passion my main job after that of graphic designer.

3 / What does the name of your brand, SOLWEIG mean?
Solweig or Solveig is a Scandinavian name which means "The way of the sun" in Norwegian, I love this name and my collections are gilded with fine gold, a little like the sun!
Finally, I think it is a very harmonious and poetic name for a jewelry brand.

4 / How do you describe your universe?
I have a world both sweet and tangy. I am very attracted by South American countries and their cultures.

5 / What subjects do you work in or prefer to work?
I like to work with gilded brass in fine gold but what I like most is making my little pompons in hand from scratch.

6 / What do you like the most in your job today?
The creation is obviously the essential part of my job, but I also like the contact with my charming ambassadresses. That’s why I opened with a talented creative (Bison Paris, DO Paris and Isabelle Farrugia), a showroom in the 16th arrondissement.

7 / You create jewels, but what pieces never leave you?
My alliance with black diamonds, and for my indispensable 4 Crosses, my medal LOVELY (engraved in my initials) and I always wear a pair of earrings (Opera, Eden or Creoles 4) and a cuff (Bird, Maelle or Swan). I never go out without jewelry.

I had nothing but issues last year with the price of my my sub, customer service and overall quality so I cancelled. My mother still subscribed monthly and seemed to have a better experience lately and I was thinking of giving it another shot. After seeing this ring I’m so glad I didn’t…. Not only am I not signing back up but my mother is now canceling. The last piece she got in was broken so they sent a replacement. It was broken too.. They gave her a store credit of which she used to order the Bresma necklace. It just arrived in a flimsy broken down cardboard box and what do you know, it is broken as too. The quality is sub par at best. “Dipped in a fine sterling silver bath over BRASS”… Not so much.. It looks like my daughter who is 10 made it with pieces of old necklaces from Claire’s. Never had a good experience with Emma and Chloe and never will.

I got mine and I love it. It’s such a cute way to wear a touch of fringe and the coral color is divine! It’s also adjustable and I think it’s fun for summer.

My hoop dangle earrings from last month broke yesterday, the second time I’d worn them and now I see this…. bummed!

Alex

Mine did too and they immediately sent me a replacement pair. This time I put apoxy on the stud part.

Alex

So did mine and they immediately sent a replacement. I put some apoxy on the stud* so it won’t break off again (*whatever the name of the part that goes thought your ear is called).

Stunning! I love it! I have tassels everything but not a tassel ring. Looking forward to showing off.

Oh … wow.

Eve

Yup! “Huh…uh, interesting?”

“Not for me” is what I can say about this ring.

Julie

Well said!

I was so hoping for a bracelet this month. I’m going to wait and see but I only wear my wedding ring and anniversary band so it will most likely be up for swap like all the other rings I get.

Different strokes for different folks and all that, but I for one will be glad when the tassel jewelry trend is over!

Me too!!! This is definitely not for me. Hurts even more because I missed the cutoff to not renew my 3 month subscription by about 20 minutes, and they said “Too bad.” This jewelry is not my style, so I’m glad to have the subscription be over. And cannot wait for the tassels to be gone – if I want tassel earrings, I can pull them off my curtain and make them for $1 – not $80.

On the plus, it’s not bkand like most of their stuff recently. On the other hand, it’s a polarizing design choice and a bit too on the tassel trend for my taste.

Frances

I seriously regret not cancelling after seeing this month’s piece…..so disappointing.

Looks way better OFF than ON. Looks cute in photo just sitting there, but ugly as heck on the finger.

Rebecca

If you’ve ever wondered what you’d look like with hairy knuckles… 🤣

Janelle

I’m a fan of this one. I’ve found so many of their choices bland, but this has a great summer vibe.

I can see how this wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste, but I’m kind of excited to try it out. Also, I’m happy to finally have a substantial piece. For the last six months or so (with maybe one exception) everything has been so delicate that I feel like I’m going to destroy it just by wearing it. This piece seems more like the solid quality pieces they used to put out.

Jb

It doesn’t even make sense, would you take it off every time you wash your hands so the tassels don’t get wet?

Reply ButtonReply

Aarjullor

I’m imagining those strings after a long day. Ew. All the dirty, germy, damp things we could come in contact with on any given day. Gross.

Reply ButtonReply

Jacki

No thanks

Carrie

I love the juxtaposition of a pretentious interview with that hideous ring, which just screams “I’ve got some homemade tassels and a hot glue gun. LET’S DO THIS.”

Reply ButtonReply

Eve

I’m dying laughing over here. XD

Reply ButtonReply

Frances

Too funny! 😂 😂😂

Reply ButtonReply

katie

LOL!

Reply ButtonReply

Kc

Seriously?? That does look horrible. I really don’t want that for this month. 😭

Reply ButtonReply

Donna

I think this ring is so freshingly different. I like it!

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

Lol I love that. I can see why it’s a love/ hate piece though

Reply ButtonReply

cindy

Wow. Hideous!

Julie

I usually like the uniqueness of this subscription but this month is not my taste. Not even a little bit. I find this ring so strange.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

To each their own but I agree, this ring won’t appeal to a lot of people. I don’t personally like the direction they’ve gone with most of their selections this year.

Rie

It’s a beautiful piece, but I’m not a huge fan of the tassel trend. I’ll probably remove them at some point in the future and possibly replace them with something else, but for now I’ll rock it as is since it is so unique.
