CHC Vintage June 2018 Review
This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! Let’s see what June's shipment had in it for me:
There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions.
Limited Brand Silk Sundress
Yes, Limited like the stores that shut down last year. Apparently, this brand has been around since 1969, which I did not know (it was a staple of malls during my teenage years, of course).
I think the print is cute and I actually like the length – I don’t own too many dresses in this length, but I like wearing them. There is a zipper in the back and while it was a little bit tight around my ribcage, the dress basically fit pretty well.
The only thing is, this is quite thin and clingy. I was sucking in my stomach and thinking, “OK, who gets to see the precise contours of my hysterectomy scar?” What I need is some good shapewear, either in the form of underwear or a slip (if such things exist) to hold everything in place.
I don’t have a cardigan or shrug in quite the right color to go with this but now I will be on the lookout for one that I like. For what it’s worth, I may shorten the straps an inch or so. I think I must have small shoulders.
Verdict: I like the dress I received from CHC Vintage this month. With appropriate accessories and undergarments, this could even work for my office, which is great since that’s about the only place I ever wear dresses, these days. As usual, it was in excellent shape – clean, with no rips, tears, stains, unusual smells, etc.).
There is a generous exchange policy if something doesn’t fit or has some other issue (I once received a dress with a broken zipper, for example, and the exchange was super simple). I don’t regularly shop at consignment or vintage stores, so I don’t know how this price compares to what you would see somewhere like that. But I would definitely pay $35 or more for a wear-to-work dress, and I got one here, so this subscription is worth it to me from that perspective.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, every box is different based on your style and size preferences.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $35 and I got one vintage dress.
