Birchbox The Feelin' Cheeky Beauty Kit Review

Here is the info sheet detailing the products.

ARROW REVIVE Cooling Cheek Tint in Pink Punch,

ARROW REVIVE Cooling Cheek Tint in Pink Punch, Full-Size! Retail Value $18

This cheek tint is a neat liquid-gel formula, and it is super easy to blend for a natural flush. Once it dries, however, it stays put and isn’t going anywhere. A tiny bit goes a long way, and if you’re looking for a product that can help you achieve a natural flush I would take a second look at this!

ittsē Illuminating Powder in Barbados, Full-Size!

ittsē Illuminating Powder in Barbados, Full-Size! Retail Value $10

This is a standard highlighter. To me personally, nothing about it particularly stands out, good or bad. This doesn't pack the impressive punch the way Rodeo Drive from Ofra does, but it does have a good color payoff and it blends well. This is a really good fit for my pale skin for a natural highlighter.

Beautaniq Beauty Glow Serum, 0.21 oz

Beautaniq Beauty Glow Serum, 0.21 oz – Estimated Value $6.90 (Buy the full-size version for $22)

This stuff is AWESOME. It is a metallic pink-rose gold highlighter with incredible staying power. After I swatched it I really just wanted to slather my entire face in it and pretend I was a millennial alien. This does need to be blended rather quickly so it sets in seamlessly - it is a bit fast-drying.

LAQA & Co. B'Lighter Blush + Highlighter in Peacher's Daughter, 0.1 oz – Estimated Value $11.19 (Buy the full-size version for $17)

This is such a pretty light peach shade with shimmer that it can be used as either a blush or a highlighter. I used a small amount to achieve a really natural flush and I appreciated how easy it was to blend out.

beautyblender® micro.mini

beautyblender® micro.mini – Estimated Value $9 (buy a pack of 2 for $18)

beautyblender® liquid blendercleanser®, 3 mL – Estimated Value $0.17

I know the mini beauty blenders are for getting into the small areas of your face like under your eyes and the creases of your nose, but I have never been able to get behind just how small the micro mini is. Maybe it is just my face, but my regular beauty blender doesn't really have an issue with reaching all across my face. A single-use packet of brush cleaner was included as well, which is nice—clean brushes are important!

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer, 0.1 oz

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer, 0.1 oz – Estimated Value $10.36 (buy the full-size version for $29)

I have used this bronzer before, and I love it. It isn’t too dark for my fair complexion, and it blends really easily. I like using this along my hairline and jawline to add some all-over warmth to my face

BONUS - Birchbox Kabuki Brush

This bonus brush from Birchbox isn’t of awesome quality, but it definitely still gets the job done. I used this to buff out the Hoola bronzer on my hairline, and it really helped to diffuse the color for the natural warmth I was going for. This also came in the Birchbox Brighten Up Discovery Kit.

Here are the swatches! From top to bottom we have the arrow cheek tint, the beauty glow serum, the ittse illuminator, the LAQA & CO blush, and the Hoola bronzer.

Here is the look I did using this kit. I started with the Wet N Wild Cushion Foundation (have Y'all tried this? It is ahhhhmaaaazinggggg). Next I brushed the Hoola bronzer in a halo around my face and blended in a small amount of the LAQA & CO blush into the apples of my cheeks. I swept the ittse illuminator over my eyelids and then went I with my fingers to dab the beauty glow serum on my cheeks before blending it out with my mini beauty blender. I finished the look with a lipstick and mascara from the Birchbox Ingredient Conscious Kit (review coming soon!). I was really feeling this—I felt like a goddess with my cheeks really coming through.

The Verdict: Considering I am not a big blush user, I was a bit wary going into this box. That being said, I think it is really fantastic! I love the mix of blush, highlighter, and bronzer, and the bonus brush is a great inclusion for the kit. The Beauty Glow Serum is a really fun discovery, and none of these products are real misses for me. If you love playing around with different makeup looks, this would be a great one for your cheeks! Value-wise, I calculated a value of about $66 (not including the bonus brush), and Birchbox promised a value of $71. That is close enough for me!

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if I sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $33 ($28 for the box plus $5 shipping), and I calculated a value of $65.62. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Arrow Cheek Tint: $9.05
  • Ittse Illuminator: $5.03
  • Beauty Glow Serum: $3.47
  • LAQA & CO Blush: $5.63
  • Beautyblender mini and cleanser: $4.61
  • Hoola Bronzer: $5.21

Any ideas on how the Wet N Wild Cushion foundation would work on oily skin?? I’m definitely in the market for a light foundation during these extremely hot and humid (its supposed to be 100 degrees + for the foreseeable future) Summer days!

Hi Kris!
I have very oily skin and using that foundation with an oil control primer and setting with a powder works really well! It will still slide off my nose where my glasses rest but I have spent a lot of money on a lot of different products and haven’t been able to prevent that.
I definitely recommend giving it a shot! It’s sold at ulta so you can return it if it ultimately doesn’t work.

Thanks, Jessica! I definitely feel your frustration, as I have also spent a ridiculous amount of money on foundations trying to find one that won’t slide off my nose under my glasses too!! Thanks for recommendation…I will stop by Ulta tonight to pick it up. I really appreciate it and on a side note, I really appreciate your honest reviews and your willingness to reply to questions. Thanks so much again!

MJ

You look amazing! I use the LAQA as an eye shadow and absolutely love it!

Haha, I love that Glow Serum too! I actually did use it all over my face lol. I was worried but couldn’t resist, and with my skin tone (light warm) it just made me look like I had a nice shimmery tan and I actually got compliments on it.
