Birchbox Sample Box June 2018 Review

Birchbox info card 1 theme

Birchbox info card 2 item list

Now on to the items!

Birchbox item 1 cream

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Cream, .17 fl oz - Estimated Value $4.80 (buy a 1.7 oz. tube for $48)

I don't love all of Dr. Jart's products that I've tried, so I am grateful to get this sample in my box I really like it!  It's designed to be a calming cream that helps with redness, blemishes, inflammation, and other irritations. The scent is light and herbal, and the cream feels refreshing! It also absorbed well and primed my skin for my foundation nicely, too.

birchbox item 2 highlighter

birchbox item 3 highlighter swatch

Beautaniq Beauty Glow Serum, .21 fl oz - Estimated Value $6.90 (buy a .67 oz. tube for $22)

This highlighter packs a punch so a little goes a long way. When used lightly and blended, it provides a very pretty highlight without being glittery. It seems a little dark for my fair complexion, initially, but it works alright if I blend it out. This should last me a while.

Birchbox item 4 blush

birchbox item 5 blush 2

Birchbox item 6 blush 3

Birchbox item 7 blush swatch

PEEK Beauty Metalimatte Naturally Quick Drying Blush in "A-Boo", .05 fl oz FULL SIZE! Retail Value $22

This cream blush comes in a really cute little tin and is a classic peachy-pink color. If you're familiar with the NARS Orgasm blush (a cult favorite), the color payoff from this cream blush is very similar. The texture is really nice and smooth, and it sets into a powder-like finish quickly once on your skin. I don't generally care for cream blushes but I'm a fan because this one is pretty and easy to work with!

birchbox item 8 eyeliner

birchbox item 9 eyelienr swatch

Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner, .04 fl oz - Estimated Value $12.57 (Buy a .07 Full-Size Liner for $22 here)

I'll only use liquid liners if they're in pen form (brush tip or felt tip) so I'm always happy to stock up on samples in subscription boxes! This one from Eyeko is fantastic! I hadn't tried it before now, but the formula is ultra-black, super opaque, and the felt-tip applicator allows for lots of control and precision. I swatched it on my hand, and it doesn't budge! I'm impressed. Plus, it has a "WIDELASH™ tripeptide-infused formula" which is supposed to make lashes appear longer and more voluminous in 15 days. Consistently using a lash serum has been one of the best beauty decisions I've ever made, so I love that this has some in the formula!

Birchbox item 10 shampoo/conditioner

R+Co Television Perfect Hair Shampoo, .23 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.86 (buy an 8 oz. bottle for $30)

R+Co Television Perfect Hair Conditioner, .23 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.92 (buy an 8 oz. bottle for $32)

One perk of chopping my hair is that I can actually use samples this size from subscription boxes! Haha. I love R+Co products, and this shampoo and conditioner smells so, so good and made my hair feel soft and smooth!

Birchbox item 11 perfume

TOCCA Maya Eau de Parfum, .05 fl oz - Estimated Value $2.12 (Buy a 1.7 oz bottle for $72)

Perfume is so subjective, but I personally don't tend to love TOCCA fragrances. This scent is "sweet violet leaf and black currant is complemented by middle notes of rose damascena, jasmine, and wild iris. The warm base of sandalwood, oakmoss, and patchouli balance those crisp notes for a perfume that's equal parts light and rich."

Verdict: This month's Birchbox has a value of $50.17, which is great! I really enjoyed my June box! There were some new products from brands I already like, as well as a couple totally new things to me, and I am actually very happy with and will use everything (except the perfume, but those are usually counted as just extras in subscriptions anyways).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, as of today your first box will be the July box, and items are chosen for you based on your profile and preferences. (Tip: Check the image on the sign-up page. I wasn’t impressed with this Birchbox – my first. The samples weren’t impressive and repeats – except smaller – from other boxes I get. I’m going to cancel this one.

Eek, I would not have liked this box. Yes to the Dr. Jart cream and the R+Co but OMG no to everything else. I get my first box next month.
In the profile section, they ask you which items you’d be most excited to get: haircare, skincare, bath & body, makeup, etc. I’m curious, can you tell us what you have selected there? I’m thinking of de-selecting make-up.

I never get awesome boxes like this and I’ve been with them over four years. I am thinking of canceling since it just doesn’t wow me.

I wouldn’t have minded the Cicapair cream.

My samples were for the most part completely different and mostly meh.

One more box….

How did apply the blush? The tin is so small.
