Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you initially sign up, you take an in-depth survey that asks you about your clothing size, personal style, and price preferences. They also ask you a few questions about your pregnancy such as due date and how you like to style your bump. Your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences within the survey. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping as well as free returns. If you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!
FYI – My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different!

Stitch Fix Maternity Clothing Box May 2018 Review
Each box comes with a free return bag. All you have to do is package up anything you want to return and send it back. Super easy!
This month Stitch Fix included an information card focused on gift giving! With Mother's Day and Father's Day happening in May and June, this is a great reminder of a unique gift that you can give to someone you love.
This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $282, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $191.50. That’s a savings of $90.50 on these items.
This is the included style sheet which includes a note from my stylist. This is always super helpful to see how you can use each piece in a full outfit! I am four months pregnant now and in need of lots of summer pieces so I was excited to receive this month's box.
Just USA Claren Maternity Fray Hem Short, Size 14 - Cost to Keep $69
These shorts are a keeper! I am out and about with my son every day and need something comfortable yet cute to wear during the summer. I have been looking for a pair of shorts, but I was really struggling to find a pair that fit, had stretch, and was comfortable. These have all of those things! The shorts are extremely comfortable with a ton of stretch so these last me through the park and zoo days without slipping, sliding, or riding up. If nothing else in the box works, it was worth it just so that I could receive these shorts!
Lux & Co Jacy Lace Yoke Knit Top, Size L - Cost to Keep $58
I didn't love this top when I first took it out of the box, but after trying it on it really grew on me. The color is absolutely beautiful and would look great with shorts, jeans, or a printed skirt. The fabric has a great stretch to it while still be snug to my curves, which I love (flaunt the bump as my Mom tells me)! While I do love the color and feminine detail, I think it is a bit overpriced for a basic. Sadly, I decided to return this one.
Renee C Porsha Maternity Knit Swing Dress, Size L - Cost to Keep $78
This dress is the perfect maternity piece that doesn't make me feel like I'm in a maternity dress. The swing silhouette allows for lots of room so I know I will be able to wear this throughout the summer as my bump grows and into the fall with tights or leggings. The only downfall with this dress is that price! I don't know if the prices are a bit higher for the maternity pieces, but I know I could find something similar at Target or elsewhere for a bit less. The overall quality and fit is great, but I did ultimately decide to return this one as well.
Loveappella Carlita Knit Maternity Maxi Dress, Size L - Cost to Keep $49
I sent a note to my stylist this month mentioning that I love maxi dresses. Since I am running after my son all day, I find that maxis are a great way for me to have a cute summer style without feeling uncomfortable in a short dress. I was excited to try this style on, but the bright pattern threw me off a bit. I tend to buy more solids or darker colors, even in the summer, so this was really out of my comfort zone. While I loved the dress, the fit was incredible and the dress was so stretchy it just moved with me, I didn't love the bright colors as much as I had hoped. I think though that this dress would be perfect for someone looking for a stylish maternity maxi dress that really pops!
Full Moon Peppy Knit Maternity Top, Size L - Cost to Keep $59
I feel as though I have really been knocking the prices this month, but again I am shocked by how much this is for a basic tee. The top itself was a bit too snug, it pulled at my chest making the polka dots appear stretched. The fabric, a polyester blend, felt a bit cheap and scratchy. While I thought the top was cute and I love the nautical style of it, the quality just didn't match the price tag in my opinion.
The Verdict: This month's Stitch Fix gave me one solid purchase, those incredible denim shorts. I am honestly living in them already so I know they were a necessary buy! While it was nice seeing so much color this month, I didn't think the remaining pieces matched my personal style. I updated my Pinterest board before this month's box shipped, but I am going to go back through to add even more so that hopefully next month's box will match my style a bit more. I really am more of a minimalist dresser, solids, and darker tones are my favorite, and I am really looking for that same style in my maternity pieces. I am interested to see if next month's items have a similar price point as well because I am just a bit surprised at how much many of the items this month cost for what they were. While I was happy with this month's selections, I am going to go back to Pinterest, add a few more styles, and hope that next month brings a few more styles that I will love and want to buy because I am in need of some new maternity clothes!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $282. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all 5 items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $191.50. That’s a discount of around 32% for these items!
