Rocksbox is a designer jewelry styling and renting service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy the pieces they love most at a discounted price.

rocksbox may bow tied box

Upon subscribing, you'll take a "style survey," so Rocksbox can suggest jewelry pieces that fit your style. You can also browse their catalog and add pieces to your wish list. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your wishlist. I've been leaving my list empty so that Rocksbox can do all the picking for me.

Try on the items in the box, and wear them as long as you'd like. From there, you have two choices. If you love any of the pieces enough to want to keep them, you can put your monthly "Shine Credit" towards your purchase.

Here's the booklet that came with the box. It lists all of the jewelry inside and features a note from the person who curated the box. If there's anything I don't love, there's a page in my Rocksbox account that lets me leave feedback on the items, so that the stylist can choose more accurately next time.

Slate Sal Bar Pendant in Gold and Howlite - Retail Value $65.00, Member Price $55.00, Promo Price $50.00

I like the simplicity of this pendant. Marble details are right up my alley—they instantly make a piece feel modern. The gold setting and chain of this 18" necklace have a fantastic shine, too. The Member Price is only listed on the Rocksbox site. Cool that there's a special promo price for this item!

Slate Porter Hinge Cuff in Howlite - Retail Value $70.00, Member Price $59.00 (Found here for $51.00)

I noticed that the Member Price for this bracelet is slightly lower online than it is on the invoice I got. The bracelet is awesome and matches the bar necklace beautifully. (The points on the ends of the gold bangle are the same white howlite.) I appreciate the hinge, too. Closed, the bracelet is about 2.5" wide, so having a hinge helps it more comfortably slide onto my wrist.

Ava Rose Berkeley Rose Quartz and Gold Earrings - Retail Value $50.00, Member Price $42.00

At first, I thought these 2" earrings were going to be a little too traditional for me, but I kind of love them! The rosiness of the gems is subtle and neutral enough to make these earrings easy to slip into all sorts of different outfits. I like how lightweight they are, too.

The Verdict: This understated assortment from Rocksbox was very much my style. I love the marbled accents and the pops of shiny, bright gold. I could totally see myself holding on to at least one of these pieces—they're versatile enough that they'd be well worth it for casual and fancy outfits. To buy everything costs $141.00, since I get a $10.00 discount if I purchase everything. But I still save on individual items via the subscription. Plus, my $21.00 rental ends up going towards whatever I get (as my Shine Credit). The pieces are priced around what I might think equivalent pieces at the department store might be.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every box is different and packed based on the customer's tastes and what's available at the time. You can, however, give the Rocksbox stylists a nudge by adding your favorite pieces to your wishlist!

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $21.00 to rent, which ends up being $7.00 per piece. The total member price for the entire box is $141.00 (or $151.00 plus a $10.00 discount). Note that my $21.00 rental fee goes towards my purchase as "Shine Credit", too.

My daughter became a member and she is trying to to cancel her membership and get refund on the jewelry she was charged for. She was charged 94$. She has called numerous times and can not get anybody on the phone. Please get this taken care of.

Angie

Do they carry larger pieces? Like longer necklaces with bigger pendants?

Janelle

Oh yes! I’m typically not one for delicate pieces and you can chose what you put on your wishlist and can make requests based on your preferences. If you don’t like when they’ve styled for your preview, you can edit it by hand.

Janelle nailed it! I let them curate this box based on my preferences, just to see what I’d get. But you can add items to your wishlist and they’ll choose pieces from there, so it’s a bit less random. The pieces tend to be on the trendy/modern side, style-wise, and there are a good number of bigger/longer statement pieces to pick from! Hope that helps, Angie!
