My Meraki Box May 2018 Review

Each box includes an insert detailing the items included, as well as the collection theme. This month, I received items from the modern collection. Each of the items comes packaged beautifully and is able to easily gift!

Odense Interlocking Necklace

Odense Interlocking Necklace – Estimated Retail Value $54.99 (based on a similar item here)

This is a perfect laying piece for summer! This modern necklace features an intersecting circle and triangle and is made from sterling silver. It measures 16.5” to the first closure option, and has up to a 2” extender, allowing this necklace to layer perfectly with a variety of necklines. The interlocking shapes are about 0.5” in width and height.

Here’s what it looks like on me, closed using the shortest option.

Marguerite Beaded Bracelet

Marguerite Beaded Bracelet - Estimated Retail Value $44.99 (based on a similar item here)

The next item came in a little velvet bag. Since I received the box for review, I did not submit any preferences. However, the insert included says that this was the piece that was done based on my stone selection. I’m not sure what these stones are (I wish it was listed on the card), but I do love this bracelet and appreciate the sterling silver triangle detail that makes this a perfect match to the necklace! The stones are a marbleized navy with gray and white hues, making this a very versatile piece.

I’d estimate this to be around a 6.5” bracelet, with stretch, making it a very good fit for my wrist as shown!

Surprise! This next bag came with TWO earrings. I have two holes in each ear – and love that I can literally wear all pieces of jewelry at once, and they perfectly coordinate!

Funen Cage Ear Thread Earrings – Estimated Retail Value $34.99 (based on a similar item here)

These earrings are also made from sterling silver, and the cage ear threads are designed on a box chain for maximum comfort. The angular piece at the end mirrors the cut of the stones in the marguerite bracelet.

I like that you can adjust the length of these earrings using the plastic back – making them the perfect length on you with your outfit/hairstyle for the day. They are virtually weightless and were very comfortable.

End to end they measure around 3.75”, and I wore them at about a 2” dangle which I felt was appropriate for me and my stature. Here’s a photo of them on me, paired with the interlocking necklace.

Jutland Modern Hoop Earrings - Estimated Retail Value $34.99 (based on a similar item here)

I couldn’t find anything even remotely like this on the Wristicuffs site, so I’m gauging the price based on the least expensive earrings currently offered.

OK, so I admit – I was a bit confused about these earrings. At first, I thought that they somehow connected to the thread earrings. They don’t.

I looked at the card, and it says “these earrings are a creative twist on your average hoop earrings with a modern and simplistic bar.” These earrings are around 0.5” in diameter, and match the circle design in the necklace, tying all 4 pieces together nicely. They were comfortable to wear – but REALLY (and I mean really) hard to insert.

I think these are a better idea in theory than practice, and this item was a miss for me. I thought it was lost on my ear, you couldn’t even sense the throwback to the hoop. I think it either needed to be larger, easier to insert, or just a different design altogether.

And here are the earrings and necklace all worn together. Note that you can barely tell I have earrings in my 2nd hole. You may love these if subtle is your thing!

The final item was a little special extra, a sweet little plant-able herb card from botanical paperworks! I have an herb garden at my home and welcome the opportunity to grow a few more plants. This card featured parsley, dill, and basil. Yum!

Verdict: What a fun box! Since these are all exclusive items, I calculated the total value of this box using similar pieces. I estimate that this My Meraki Box retails for around $169.96, which is almost 3x the cost of the subscription! Or, looking at it a different way and applying a peanut butter split – you’re paying $16.25 per piece of jewelry, which I’m sure each of these easily surpasses! I loved that this was a cohesive set, and a really flattering, universal and modern look. Three out of the four items were hits for me, with the hoops being a miss in my opinion. This was my first month receiving My Meraki Box, and to be honest, I have not previously heard of this brand and I am both happy and impressed with this subscription!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this box ships on the first of every month, so if you sign up today your first box will ship on June 1.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $64.99 + free shipping, which means that each of the 4 items in the box has an average cost of $16.25.

You are wearing the small earrings backwards! If you thread them from the back, they look just like a small standard hoop but the bar ( that’s now at the back) acts like the stopper so you don’t need an extra stopper. I love these earrings and thought the design was genius!

Ha! I told you I was having trouble figuring it out. Thanks for the note! I’ll have to try them the right way!

This is definitely tempting….! Can someone that’s either a current subscriber or a past subscriber comment if this is the typical simplistic style of jewelry that’s usually included in the box. I prefer simple jewelry styles and want to verify that this box isn’t just a one off and then I spend $65 for jewelry that I’ll never wear. Thanks in advance for any help/info.

Check their instagram or Facebook page – they usually have a spoiler or two. The style here is not necessarily typical, though when they do have sterling silver styles they are like this – delicate, high-quality. If you go to their website wristicuffs.com, you can see examples of past boxes.

I subscribed to this box for awhile and loved it, but I can’t understand, being Canadian, why it’s shipped from Canada, charged in USD, and free to ship to US but not to Canada. So I cancelled. Quality-wise, though, it’s definitely far superior to most jewelry subs out there. I wear the pieces I have received in this box almost daily, whereas my 1-year plus items from Emma and Chloe sit collecting dust.

Hi Daria,

I just went through all of our past subscribers and I cannot find your name so I assume this is an alias or I would have reached out to you privately. When we added shipping for Canadian customers, it was with a heavy heart and all past subscribers were grandfathered in to the previous pricing with an account-specific code to override the shipping.

We charge in USD as all of our supplies and materials are ordered in USD and this stops us from having to fluctuate our pricing to reflect the current exchange rates. We tried pricing in CAD for some time but it was a full time job to change pricing to reflect exchange.

With regards to shipping, you should have received an email when we made changes. If you did not, please reach out and we will help you with that. The reason that Canadian boxes are charged shipping is because some locations are up to $20+ a box to ship with Canada Post, even with better than normal business discounts. Even with our current shipping rates, we eat a lot of shipping costs every month. By comparison, we use a courier who ships USPS for us and it’s $3 a box. We tried very, very hard to not have to implement Canadian shipping but if we didn’t, we would have had to reduce the quality of our boxes and that was not something we wanted to do. Reducing Canadian shipping is something that we spend hours on each week. The hope is to find an alternative to eventually provide free shipping within Canada. It is a top priority for us!

I am happy to hear that you love the pieces you have received in the past. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me anytime!

Yes, that is strange!

I think the stone on the bracelet may be sodalite.

Leanne

Yes it is sodalite! All subscribers would have received this information when selecting their colors for this box.

Thanks for confirming! I would have added this to my review – this comes up when I googled that stone and I love the healing properties listed:

It encourages rational thought, objectivity, truth and intuition, along with verbalisation of feelings. Sodalite brings emotional balance and calms panic attacks. It enhances self-esteem, self-acceptance and self-trust. Sodalite balances the metabolism, boosts the immune system and overcomes calcium deficiencies.

Thanks!
