LoveLula Beauty Box April 2018 Review

This month’s box features 4 full-size items and a sample set. Let’s check it out:

Each box comes with a card detailing the brands and products included plus a 20% off code to use towards purchasing products from the included brands. There’s also some info about the LoveLula Natural Beauty Club.

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Balm, 30ml

Balm Balm Little Miracle Rosehip Balm, 30ml - Retail Value $16.10 USD (£12)

I’ve become familiar with many Balm Balm products because of this subscription and love that the products can be used for multiple things. The balms are especially wonderful. This one has a spicy yet floral scent and just melts into my dry skin. It isn’t greasy feeling but I tend to wear this at night or on days that I don’t wear makeup. I also love cleansing my face with their balms.

Dr Botanicals Coffee Superfood Renewing Facial Exfoliator, 30ml/1.01oz

Dr. Botanicals Coffee Superfood Renewing Facial Exfoliator, 30ml/1.01oz - Retail Value $20.00 USD (£14.90)

This vegan facial exfoliant uses coffee oil and walnut shells to refresh and smooth skin. It smells like a nutty coffee mixture which helps to perk me up in the morning. The texture is slightly gritty but not sharp feeling and works wonderfully with a facial sponge. It takes a bit of work to get all of the grit off when done, so I actually prefer to use this in the shower.

Dr Botanicals Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer, 30ml/1.01oz

Dr. Botanicals Kale Superfood Nourishing Day Moisturizer, 30ml/1.01oz - Retail Value $20.00 USD (£14.90)

This doesn’t smell as bad as I thought it would! It actually doesn’t have much of a scent at all. The texture is a medium weight for a moisturizer and, although it isn’t quite enough for my dry skin, it might work well for combo skin. I’m not crazy about the waxy feel it leaves behind; not a great base for makeup.

Inika Cream Eyeshadow in Champagne, 7ml/.24oz

Inika Cream Eyeshadow in Champagne, 7ml/.24oz - Retail Value $28.18 USD (£21)

Now, this is interesting packaging for a cream eyeshadow. The top twists off and there’s a little squeeze tip. I like this better than a doe foot applicator because no germs are introduced into the bottle. This shade has a little bit of sheen and great pigment. This is a perfect base for other shadows (like a primer) because it leaves an almost tacky feel that grabs powders well but dries down velvety. It also works on its own as a quick way to brighten up the eye area.

Madara 3-step Skin Boost Sample Pack

Madara 3-step Skin Boost Sample Pack

I didn’t include this sample set in the value of the box because they are foil packets, but they give you enough product to try it a couple of times. There are 3 steps included: 1) Cleansing Milk, 2) Brightening AHA Peel Mask, 3) Smart Antioxidants Fine Line Minimising Day Cream. If you haven’t added an AHA/BHA product to your skincare regimen, this is a great way to start.

The Verdict: This month’s LoveLula Beauty Box was pretty good for me. I love the balm and the eyeshadow has made its way into my everyday makeup bag. I like knowing that every product from LoveLula is ingredient conscious and comes from brands that are environmentally and socially responsible. It is also very easy to look up the ingredients on the site. This box has a value of $84.28 plus free shipping which I think is a great value for a cost of just under $25. Though being outside of the UK makes this box a little more costly, I think you are paying for a curation of products that are rigorously vetted for their effectiveness, sustainability, quality, and policies against animal testing.

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up today your first box will be the June box.

Coupon - Use code FREEBOX to get the April box free when you spend £60!

Value Breakdown: The box cost about $23.48, and I estimate that I received $84.28 in value. That means I spent approximately the following on each item:

  • Balm Balm - $4.49
  • Facial Exfoliator - $5.57
  • Day Cream - $5.57
  • Cream Eyeshadow $7.85
  • Madara Sample Pack - Not counted toward value
