In each box from Geek Gear, you’ll find a handy booklet listing all of the products inside! In addition to the products, you will also find a clue for an item in next month’s box and a “Subscriber Spotlight” featuring a community member. I’m intrigued by next month’s clue: a photo of Luna Lovegood! What are you up to, World of Wizardry?

Recipe Cards
Queenie’s Apple Strudel and Monster Book Cake are the two recipes I received this month to continue my collection, and they’re both visually amazing in different ways! The strudel is so beautiful with the apple roses on top, and I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t laugh out loud when they see the monster book cake. These cards are so pleasingly directional; I don’t really bake often, so I was happy to see explicit directions and lots of tips for the different techniques.

World of Wizardry April 2018 Tie pkg

World of Wizardry April 2018 Tie 1

Wizardry Tie - Listed Value $13.55

I’ve long envied the Hogwarts student body’s dress code, so I was really excited to receive a tie of my very own in this month’s box! I love that this tie’s print is on the smaller side; from far away it just looks like a pleasing, diagonal pattern until you get closer and register Harry’s glasses and lightning bolt scar symbol.

Wizardry Tie Clip - Listed Value $6.77

I love that these boxes include house items, and this is the perfect thing to go with my new tie! I also really enjoyed the color choice here: Ravenclaw colors are blue and bronze in the books, so this almost rose-colored metal was a nice touch to try and approach the true colors of my house.

World of Wizardry April 2018 Art Hagrid

Signed Hagrid Artist Print - Listed Value $9.48

Finally, a Hagrid item! I haven’t seen anything based on my favorite groundskeeper in these boxes so far, and this illustration is absolutely lovely. Guest stars Fang and Buckbeak are nice additions to the piece, and fans will really love the presence of the umbrella in Fang’s massive jaws. It’s signed by the artist, which really adds an artistic edge!

World of Wizardry April 2018 wand 1 World of Wizardry April 2018 wand 2

Magic Wand - Listed Value $13.55

The “House of Black” packaging was my first hint as to whose wand this was, and when I opened it up, it was right! I received Sirius Black’s wand, which is one of the more interesting wands that I could’ve gotten, just because it’s unique in both shape and its design. It’s almost squarish at the handle and carved with rune-like symbols. It turns out there isn’t much information out there on Sirius’ wand’s origins, material, etc; it’s unclear if this is the original wand that he would’ve gotten at Olivander’s, or if he acquired it after his escape from Azkaban.

World of Wizardry April 2018 Lion placemat

World of Wizardry April 2018 Serpent placemat

House Placemats - Listed Value $13.55

I think some of the best items in a wizardry box are the ones that represent all the Houses - it shows off Hogwarts pride without being divisive. I really like how each House insignia is really vibrant and makes a bold statement - the checkered patterns are the perfect backdrop for each of the animal symbols.

World of Wizardry April 2018 Wanded print

Wanded Print - Listed Value $6.77

There are all kinds of danger in the wizarding world, and I love the phrase, “Wanded & Dangerous”! The design style is really neat; it reminds me more of the newer, Fantastic Beasts era of the films. The color scheme is really strong with all the black, but kind of neutral at the same time since there’s just a tiny bit of red. This would look awesome in a raw wood frame, maybe with a wand on it!

World of Wizardry April 2018 keyring pkg World of Wizardry April 2018 keyring 2 World of Wizardry April 2018 keyring 1

Metal Broomstick Keyring - Listed Value $8.12

I absolutely loved the packaging on this item, too - seeing the “Quality Supplies” label on the outside made me feel like this had actually come from Diagon Alley! I’m not usually a big keychain person, but it seems like I always fall for Harry Potter-themed ones, and this is no exception. I may have to put this on the keys we keep for our new shed just so that something makes me smile when I have to go get the lawn mower.

World of Wizardry April 2018 tee

Death Eater T-Shirt - Listed Value $13.55

This is my second t-shirt from this sub featuring the Death Eater motif, and this time, it’s quite a crew! Having items from both the good guys and the bad guys adds nice a nice variety to the mix in these boxes, and as always, the shirt itself is soft and looks well-printed.

Verdict: World of Wizardry always charms its way into my heart with its unique variety of items! I really liked the Sirius wand this month; it’s so intricate and I think it would look awesome in a stand. I loved this month’s t-shirt, I’m dying for an excuse to wear the tie I received, and I hope my husband doesn’t mind if I leave those placemats out pretty much full-time! I can’t wait for next month; I’ve previously really enjoyed box items that cater to Luna Lovegood, and I’m sure World of Wizardry will deliver!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the May box. Monthly boxes ship between 21st and 24th each month.

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $28.27 + $8.47 US shipping cost, which means that each of the 8 items (not counting the recipe cards)  in the box has an average cost of $4.59.

Please check your information before you post. Cutoff for the Luna box was yesterday, so you get the june box if you order today, not the may. I just ordered thinking I would get the May bix thanks to your incorrect information.
