Teabox “The Floral Box" April 2018 Review

Each Teabox comes with a handy insert elaborating on the month's theme and the teas included. This month's card is all about florals. I could cue a Miranda Priestley quote regarding florals for spring but y'know what? I am all aboard. Floral teas are my absolute favorite!

Each blend in this box weighed 0.35 oz., which means you get about 4 cups of tea out of each bag.

Nilgiri Jasmine Green Tea, 0.35 oz. – Retail Value $3.00

I absolutely LOVED this tea—LOVED IT. The first words out of my mouth while sampling this with my mom were, "this tastes like magic!" This is a blend of Indian jasmine and high-grown green tea, and I'm tellin' ya, it has heady, healing powers. It almost elevates you the moment it touches your tongue. The floral flavor bursts and it requires no added sugar or cream to really taste amazing! This was one of my favorite two teas in the box.

Calming Chamomile Green Tea, 0.35 oz. – Retail Value $3.00

I've never been a huge fan of chamomile tea, so I knew my judgment would be a bit skewed on this one. It was certainly better than any other chamomile I've had, however! The infused marigold flavor brought a lot of brightness to this tea, and it had an overall clean, refreshing taste.

Rose Drop Black Tea, 0.35 oz. – Retail Value $3.00

I gasped when I poured these tea leaves onto my plate! THOSE COLORS. It really makes you marvel at the beauty of nature. It had such a vivid mixture of colors and textures, it felt like a work of art. If you look closely, you'll see there are sugar crystals mixed in! I love my beverages sweet, but I always felt like I was doing tea a disservice by muddling it with sugar. So it felt reassuring that Teabox added a touch of sugar themselves!

The list of ingredients in this tea is lengthy: black tea, almond, pistachio, fennel, cardamom, clove, rose petals, and sugar crystals. Despite that flavor party, this tea didn't have an overwhelming taste! It was hardly nutty, despite the almond and pistachios, and had a generally mellow, slightly sweet flavor. Overall it was really pleasant.

Lavender Piquant Green Tea, 0.35 – Retail Value $3.00

These tea leaves had such an amazing fragrance to them—truly invigorating! Their flavor was equally wonderful. It has a very intense taste, with tight flavors and a heavy presence of ginger that I loved. It didn't taste too floral to me; it was more peppery, and a little stronger than most floral teas I've had. Almost like a chai!

Hibiscus Lush Herbal Tea, 0.35 oz. – Retail Value $3.00

My FAVORITE from the box! From its bold color to its texture, smell, and overall taste: simply amazing. Its very tart and extremely citrusy—so much so that I couldn't help but be reminded of pink lemonade! This tea is truly one of the best tasting experiences I've ever had. I sipped it warm, but I can imagine it tasting FANTASTIC cold, as well!

If I could pick one tea from this month's box to drink every day, Hibiscus Lush Herbal Tea would certainly be it.

This was such a fun extra addition to the box! They offered seeds of our own to complement the month's floral theme. From Teabox:

Reap the joys of what you've sown in only a few weeks:

  • In a small tray or pot take some damp soil or soil-less potting box.
  • Place the seeds and cover them with more soil/mix.
  • Wrap the tray/pot with plastic and place it on a warm spot.
  • Check the seeds daily and they should germinate in 3-4 days.
  • Once the seedlings appear, remove the plastic wrap.
  • Place the seedlings in the sun for 5-6 hrs a day.
  • Water the tray/pot regularly to keep it well moist.
  • Once the plants are 2-3 inches, you can safely transplant them to bigger pots or a bed outside.

You'll know what you've planted pretty soon when it blooms in a few more weeks.

Verdict: I thought I adored the Chai Teabox from last month, but that didn't hold a candle to the wonder that was this month's floral curation! Each tea was so unique, colorful, and rejuvenating. It was an exciting delight steeping each one! The sheer variety of flavors made this month's box feel more-than-worth its value. I can't wait to purchase the Hibiscus Lush and Nilgiri Jasmine Tea for continued sipping! The packet of seeds that accompanied this month's teas was also an adorable touch.

Hi Katie, how much tea comes in the box? I see on their website it’s 1.06oz under each tea. Is it .35oz or 1.06 per tea?

Teabox has the most amazing tea anywhere. They use only full leaf, never the crumbs or powder you find in other brands. No bitterness at all. I have been subscribing about 6 months and think it is great value if you truly love premium teas.

I’m really coming to agree. 😊 I loved this one a lot more than the Chai Box, so I’m hoping the coming months will keep getting better and better!

$15 of tea for $30 – if only they had included a pretty cup and saucer…

The seeds look a bit like cosmos seeds. In next month’s review, please tell us what they grew up to be!

I will! (If all goes well with growing them! 😊)

I think Linda is right. I’m going with Marigold too.
